Rhino Horn Smuggling

Typical BBC reporting. "The export of rhino horns from sa is illegal" . They did absolutely no research at all. Bunch of crap from a bunch of crap "news organization"

I know nothing about the case but I find it interesting that the individual who spent his life fortune saving rhinos with the largest herd of rhinos in the world gets lambasted by the bbc

Agree, Mr Hume probably did more for Rhino conservation than anyone else on this planet at this time.

If I remember correctly he had put out a call to come purchase (or even get them free) his rhino’s as he could no longer bear the financial burden of taking care of such a large herd. No NGO’s or greenie organisations showed up.

Mr Hume was featured in the documentary Trophy. Here's the trailer for those who haven't seen the movie before:

Last week after we finished up our PG hunt with Bronkhorst safaris they set us up with a 4 day stay in Kruger. Had a few interesting conversations with several people.
First, EVERY person from a certain ethnic group asked if we had seen any rhino. I feel almost 100% certain they were asking to pass on the information to poachers. I quit counting at 5 questions, our guide confirmed my suspicions.

Second, we were standing around the parking area one evening and some old South African geezer asked my daughter if she was having a good time and asked what we had been doing. My daughter told him we had been hunting and we were staying in Kruger and we were having a great time. He chimed in and said we should have skipped the hunting as he didn’t approve. I looked at him and asked him how many other people he had fed other than his family in the last year, before I could go any further Caitlin said “well we took 4 carcasses to an orphanage so the kids could have some protein” while she didn’t shoot I was proud as hell she chimed in so quickly. The poor old dude just dropped his chin and ambled away.

I have a Chapuis 450-400 double that looks brand new and shoots well, never been hunted from what I can tell. I am willing to part with it as I have a 375 H&H Sodia on it's way from Dorleac & Dorleac. I am looking for $9,250 for it and if you are interested, I am happy to send you some pictures. Regards,
Steve
