Hello friends. I'm interested in what components you use most often to reload .416 rigby? Powder - primers. I am especially interested in the use of eu powder (viht, reloadswiss, norma, rotw)
I'm also interested in how the hits stack up if several different grains are used at 60-70m/yds?
I mean soft-hard projectils.
Also, I'm interested in how unpleasant the recoil of the 416 is and is there a significant difference with the 458 win mag?

Load 400gr Swift A-Frames (softs) and 400gr Barnes TSX (solids) over a healthy dose of Viht N560 or Norma MRP, lit by Fed 215s. This isn’t quite the answer to your question but possibly you can cross reference to EU powders. Here is a 100 yard target I shot while working up loads for my Ruger RSM .416 Rigby. I tested RL-19, RL-22, and RL-25 under both Woodleigh 410 gr RN SN and Woodleigh 410 gr FMJ. I prepare my brass at home and then take all my loading equipment with me to the range and make changes in powder charge and seating depth while shooting over a chronograph with an eye on Standard Deviation and potential pressure signs. There are 22 shots on this target and as you can see the magnificent .416 Rigby demonstrated quite a bit of flexibility. I settled on 100 gr of RL-22 at 2412 fps. I don’t find the .416 Rigby recoil to be harsh or unpleasant. There is a significant difference in recoil between the .416 Rigby and 480 gr Woodleigh .458 Winchester at 2200 fps. The .458 starts on the unpleasant path. I didn’t feel like I would get a scope in the face with the .416 but with the .458 really need to pay attention to critical eye relief (as you should with all rifles).

It is accurate and holds the group of hits regardless of the powder changes.
I am really interested in buying a barrel in this cal.
