He got this one yesterday afternoon I was watching him and his little brother
Stalked him at the edge of the hay field and got with in 15 yds to take the shot.
They both cleaned him and put the meat up.

Not bad for a little 30 min hunt
They have a baseball tournament next weekend and are going to miss the dove opening day

First thing I ever shot was a rabbit, with my first .22. I'll never forget it, neither will they!

This was his first with a rifle he had been using a 410 mossberg 500 and a 1100 20 ga
He wanted to use my marlin m25 22 mag head shot with a 40 gr fmj
I thought it was good a stalk and a off hand rifle shot.
He wanted to get close. I told him yo shoot when he was sure of the shot.

Congratulations! I'm a rabbit hunter. I usually use a Fabarm L4S shotgun, and it's a really fun activity. And that's despite the fact that I'm a mediocre to bad shot.

Rabbits are fun if you have them or can find them. Some areas have too many predators--coyotes, bobcats, etc. but if you are in good rabbit country, man you can have some good shooting at running game. BTW, the farmers in Kansas are literally over run with rabbits--you could fill a pickup bed in one big field I saw near Garden City. Good eating too--just check any French cookbook.

We have a few not where like they usto be.
I had been seeing 4-6 regularly.
But when they hunted that one was it.
No rain and the time of year the grass is starting to go dormant.

I used to hunt rabbits a lot, but I quit years ago because it seemed every female I shot was either lactating or had a belly full of young . I got tired of orphaning the next generation so I quit.It didn’t matter what time of year it was. Our season at the time e was October 15 to February 28.
I still shoot the occasional rabbit if I’m in a northern location with a more defined breeding season.

We don’t have. A season it’s year round.
I still do like the old people said only hunt them with months with a r in it.

I’ve heard that about the “r” months, probably due to the lesser chance of the rabbit having “wolves” botfly larvae under the skin. Same with squirrels.

In the hunting ground where we hunt, the season begins on October 12 and ends in February.

what kind of velocity does the 140 grains list, curious how they would fit in with my current 130 gr, supply of 270s. maybe a pic of the box data listing vel. and drop. Oh and complements on that ammo belt, nice.
