I just purchased a 2018 VC Azure in 500 NE. It came with a Noblex lll rmr sight that I am looking to upgrade to a new Trijicon or Aimpoint, etc. The owners manual does not identify the "rail" system that is integrated into the rib for mounting a red dot site. Can anyone tell me what the rail system is so I can order the correct product and mount?

Thanks!

I believe Noblex shares the same “footprint” as the Doctor red dots. They are not 1:1 compatible with Trinicon (or Aimpoint?) and I do not know how thick of an adapter is required to mate the crossover. If you have pictures of the rail and mount, they may beneficial in identifying what you have/need. Some mounting systems are pretty close to a single slot picatinny and don’t require much to change. I’m not familiar enough with you Azur to know off hand.

Send a JJ Pardo in Oklahoma and have him cut a slot for a site send me a pm if you want his contact

I also believe that Noblex and Doctor are the same. I Leica Red Dot would fit that nicely.

It's JJ Perrodeau but that's a great option. I had him cut my V/C 500 nitro for a red dot optic. He has a mount that he recommends and told me he does 1-2 conversions every week on double rifles. His turn around is pretty fast on the small jobs.

Recently I had to get a replacement mount for my Docter/Noblex red dot for my VC DR. It's not for Trijicon or Aimpoint but the sight mount has Weaver rail. First, I ordered an EAW mount.
EAW Docter Sight Mount
It worked fine, except the mounting plate is 11 mm tall. With that I just could not get a good sight picture w/out compromising cheek weld. So, I ended up getting a Henneberger mount with 4.2 mm mounting plate height. Henneberger Docter Sight Mount

You also need to be mindful of:
1. the width of the base as well as the groove on the base to make sure the mount will fit.
2. It will need either a fast thread with 180 degree fastening/tightening (like in that EAW mount) or a side lever or a screw type fastener (like in Henneberger) in order to clear the barrel w/ a low pica / weaver platform.

I have a question along these lines. I have a couple ov vortex red dots that have served well on a turkey gun and a 45-70. Progressing to a DGR would the switch to a RMR from a vortex defender st be warranted?

I’m sorry. I’ll open Search for red dot didn’t show how focused this discussion was. Again sorry

Hello,

Am I reading your post correctly to say that the Tsavo rifle will be coming out with a composite stock later this year? I ask because I had been looking very hard for a Tsavo, but if there is going to be a composite stock model I will wait for that.

Thank you for your time,

Andrew

Saw your post. Nice. Denver too. Genesee area (just off 70) if ever up this way. Alternatively, do you have a membership at GGC? Whatever, you'll have a wonderful time in Africa. Enjoy.
