Hey guys I'm looking into picking up a ruger #1 in this caliber. I have never reloaded rimmed cartridges like this before, so if ya'll could help me out I'd appreciate it. My main question is how do you set up your sizing die for this? All I've ever loaded is bottleneck cartridges, and i only bump the shoulder back .002" on these, so my die is not touching the shell holder. But is this different on a rimmed cartridge? I'm not wanting to over work the brass and have a case head separation like on other cartridges i load. Or since its rimmed do you just screw the die down until it touches the shell holder and full length resize? Thanks for any help guys.

No big. Size the neck portion to not quite the shoulder even if a small one. Check for chambering and if good, load and blast.
Even though its rimmed it still has a shoulder and you can set your sizing die to headspace off the shoulder. No need to bump the shoulder back on any rounds really except maybe for rounds for hunting especially if the chamber is minimum sized.
I had that same rifle and caliber and don't recall any difficulties in loading for it, I treated it like a bottleneck round, which it is, just is not rimless.

Thanks! That clears it up for me. I appreciate it.
