Nice try. Official unemployment was 25% when FDR took over, probably 30-35% if you apply modern U6 unemployment metrics. It was down to 14% when large scale WW2 mobilizations started in 1940. It would have been even lower if not for mistakes made in 1937. Even if you think WW2 was responsible for it all, the WW2 mobilization is still a large federal government jobs and spending program. Nice to see you support such things.

The posters you describe don't have anything useful to add to any conversation and don't debate in good faith. They bring down any conversation they're involved in, contribute nothing of value, and frankly I wouldn't be in the least disappointed if they were all banned.

Except possibly RLD, who whilst rather intellectually dishonest in a lot of his arguments, does at least occasionally say something factually accurate and interesting.

However, the lack of social awareness so evident is your posts is as funny, as it is depressing. To spell it out for you; You aren't the good guy here Brent. You are part of the problem.

I consider you to be exactly the same as them. You're just as toxic, just as much of a troll, just as much of a drain on the time and patience of those who want to be involved in any conversation you enter. You also provide no value, and I'd rather you didn't post either.

To all of the contributors referenced in this post.

Altitude sickness is fully correct. You can hold and present whatever opinions you like, and I for one welcome that. Difference perspectives on a topic are always valuable.

The issue is how you communicate them, and what you're trying to achieve. As it stands, I find you all pathetic, because you're all trolls, and trolls are always worthy of contempt, no matter their political leanings.

I'd actually prefer a more diverse set of political opinions here. Having a couple more well informed, left leaning contributors like Saul to provide a different perspective on politics would be enlightening. As for the current political spectrum we have, whilst I don't agree with contributors like mdwest who are a lot more pro-Trump than I on a lot of things, the discussion is still valuable and I still respect his opinions.

But civility, reasoned arguments, objective facts, sharing your sources, discussion in good faith, attempts to learn and test your arguments, and knowing when you don't know enough about a given topic to contribute... those are non-negotiable. You're all so, so far away from that ideal as it stands.

I mean the guy is a criminal that employs at least one other known criminal/terrorist supporter in his cabinet. So why wouldn't the mayor of NYC want to arrest him? Don't the Republicans claim to be the "law and order" party? You should be happy about arresting a criminal?

I'm not trolling or following anyone. Except maybe Trump. But he's not on the forum. I don't engage in name calling anyone who's on the forum. Well, not that I can recall anyway. Yes, I often label Trump an idiot or stupid. Perhaps you are correct, I should instead describe him as acting stupid and acting like an idiot. Generally I let his actions and words speak for themselves. And you obviously don't like to hear them brought up. Better that his endless ridiculous behavior (like proposing himself for Nobel Prize or adding his image to Mt Rushmore, etc, etc, etc) just be ignored and swept under the rug. I am of the opinion that those who would do so should be swept out of office. And that's why we are discussing these things. Midterms are coming. It is uncomfortable for many on here to acknowledge the man they voted for president makes a fool of himself publicly on a daily basis (sometimes hourly basis). What does that make them? They would prefer to shoot the messenger rather than look in the mirror. I don't deserve to be put in a class with Brent or below his very low bar just because you don't like hearing about reality.

Engaging someone with insults and memes is different than engaging someone in a meaningful and good faith debate about important topics while citing fact-based sources. The latter of which you have yet to do.
