Peter Hathaway Capstick’s Model 70 375 H&H is on gunbroker!

Perhaps not but there is the nostalgia feeling about it.

Much like taking grandad's old 44-40 that hasn't been used for years out into the woods to shoot a buck with.

I did the same thing years ago when I took my dads old model 99 300 Savage out to shoot a buck with. That deer wasn't any deader than if I had shot him with my 7mm Rem Mag but the feeling that I got as I lined up the shot and saw the buck laying on the ground afterwards.

By the way that old Savage hadn't shot a deer in close to 80 years until I took it out to do the job.
At 25k US$ I would take one of my 2 ZKK602 Brno's and blow the 25K on Game instead of history

I could afford the rifle but it would require significant sacrifice to do so. But for some people here it is a modest purchase.

I need somebody to buy it so I can stop scheming a way to do it myself.

Don’t see it depreciating. Buy it, use it, pass it on.

If you can justify the $25k for a rifle, you should already be able to hunt pretty much where and when you want.

cool (and spendy) stuff...

This looks to be the rifle Peter is shooting at the beginning of his cape buffalo video. The right arrow points to the rear pin/crossbolt, the left the slightly lighter part of the grain in that area. The forward cross bolt is also visible in the video.

Long live Peter!

Baxter,

You are always a great resource on the golden age of African hunting!

It would be a great rifle to own, as long as I am wishing, I would like to own Jim Corbetts .450-.400 double also!

What you really said is that you can't afford it. Invest that money suck that it leads to you having the ability to remove the quoted part of your comment ;) Then you can afford it:)

Allow me to clarify by saying that although I can afford it, I have different priorities for investing at present. I don’t want to sacrifice my position in bonds, equities and real estate to buy the Capstick rifle.

But it certainly is tempting.

And if that is right for you, that is exactly what you should do! :)

Oh heck yeah! But I'd take Corbett's first any day ;)

Someone tell me why I shouldn’t buy this thing and take it to Africa for a buffalo or two? Then selling it to someone else for their adventure, of course.
Well if you really want to know.... because it has a pretty good crack in the stock ;)

Hi PaulB,
I have a Ballard Arms Model 1885 chambered for .333 Jeffery Flanged. Do you have any idea where I can get ammo for this?

I am new to this forum so I am sorry if I am doing something wrong!
Thank You!
