There are several Customs and Border patrol offices in or around Newark. One in Terminal B at the airport, another in Elizabeth and one in Morristown. and another in Jersey City. Which one should I use for getting a 4457 signed?

Thanks

Call around and find the friendliest officer on duty.

I would avoid the airport terminal since you need to take your rifle in to them or they'll come out to you. This is where calling and finding out their procedure is best.

Are you local or are you looking to do this prior to leaving the country, connecting from EWR?

A lot of local offices will NOT fill out 4457's in NJ. They are supposed, but they won't. I tried calling a bunch. My goal was to avoid making two trips to the airport. The problem now is with immigration being fully enforced, 4457's are the last priority for a lot of these offices.

I'm in NJ so I went to terminal B a few days before we flew out. When I did go, it took them maybe 5 minutes to inspect the rifle and sign the form. It took me longer to walk from my car, into terminal B, to the CBP office than it did for them to look at the serial and sign.

I live in NY on the border of Jersey. I got my 4457 completed at Stewart Airport. It was a breeze. Might be worth the drive for you.

Call and make an appt with the closest one to your house if that’s a possibility

Thanks. I am in Princeton, a little less than an hour from EWR.

Great idea to find a smaller airport.

Make sure you educate yourself on the rifle checking process when flying out of Newark. Unfortunately, I fly out of Newark every 2 weeks. Have done so with firearms on multiple occasions & the lack of knowledge on the United Airlines staff for doing so can be a bit clunky. When flying in the states the ammo can go with the firearm but to Africa the ammo needs to go in your checked luggage.....I had to explain this to the lady at the luggage desk. It took some phone calls to their supervisor to confirm as they did not grasp the concept.

@Gerty - Agree, flying with Firearms out of Newark is like Flying to MARS —- an Adventure like nothing else, might go smooth or might crash….it’s often been the most exciting part of any trip

Thanks. I was already aware of that. Flying out of Trenton with a firearm is even worse. Nobody had any clue about the rules. One person told me it had to be in a locked case inside my luggage. That is fine for pistols but difficult with a rifle. Good thing I went 3 hours early.

I live in the Hudson Valley and have done mine at Stewart also, super easy.

Jake, Sorry to bug you again. I was wondering if you could share a. couple actual pics of this crossbow with me?

Xpedition Archery USED Scrapeline390X Sniper Gray Crossbow XACW1001 - Light Wear - Needs Bolt/Arrow Guide Spring UA5689

If it is in a decent shape, would you be willing to sell it for $100 shipped? IS it missing the retention spring that goes over the bolt?
Thank you Ferenc

Good morning John, I just read your setup procedure for the northstar duplicator ator. I found it very hand and I did learn some things. I have the same machine and I am having a problem i can not figure out and was hoping you could shed some light on the subject.
