Does anyone know when the 2026 Shot Show Claro AAA rifles are supposed to be aviable? Im considering a 30 06 and sending it to Tim at Matrix for a quarter rib kit. It might be my birthday gun this year.
That's the plan. He is doing my classic model 70 300 rum conversion to 404j right now. I think barrel work on that rifle may start next month. I dont remember exactly the cost for the kit. I. Having other work done to the stock. But I think it is very reasonable for what he does.. biggest question I have to answer soon is do I want it blued or midnight blue cerakote.
The sights would not line up for that gun. Comb is way too high.
I hate irons and I don't see any reason to have them on a rifle. I have had them catch on things, and I had them rip my hand wide open. I have removed them with a vengeance on every rifle I own.
What cartridge are you going to do?
I had an early 2000's 300 Winchester Super Grade, it was a pretty rifle from 10 feet. Was in letted with a dull chainsaw.
I would have to think hard about that one. 270, 264, 30-06 or 300 Win. Not sure I could pick, not sure there is a wrong answer.
Probably 270 would make me the happiest.
Just use it on pronghorns.
Put some sort of 30mm 4-14 or 3-18 x44 or 50 objective scope on it. Probably a Nightforce SHV or NX6 or NX8. I don't remember what the actual power range was.
I would use Talley ultralight one piece mounts or the same mount type from Leupold. Not everything needs a Pic rail.
They do the M70 Extreme in 25-06. I didn't know that until today. I am going to order one of those when I get back to America. Perfect!
