New member heading to Zimbabwe in July

Welcome to AH Ward!

:S Welcome:

Good day, welcome! Enjoy your safari!

Welcome to AH! It is a great site, glad to have you here.

Welcome to ya and hope you have a safe and successful trip.

I’ve been to Namibia for a rifle hunt of plains game and an archery hunt for Cape Buffalo in S Africa. Zimbabwe will be tuskless elephant and Leopard with a Blaser double rifle.
Welcome, my first trip to Zim was last July for tuskless with a double and my favorite hunt to date.

I’m curious what outfitter you went with. I am going with Charlton/McCallum Safaris. Have sure heard good things about them. I have yet to have a bad experience in Africa. All the outfitters I’ve met are first quality.

I have received similar response from others. I’ve did a lot of checking prior to booking and never heard a bad thing. Did you by chance have Kendall as your PH.

Welcome, what rifle will you be using for Leopard?

I have an R8 that has a 300 win mag barrel I’ll probably use but if I can find a double rifle barrel in a similar caliber for my Blaser S2 I’ll take that barrel and use the same gun. Currently using a 470 NE double Blaser rifle but hoping to find a 375 H&H barrel set.

They are one of the top outfitters I’ve hunted with. I’m booked for my 3rd trip with them. You’ll have a great trip just make sure your expectations are right. Hunting in Zambezi valley is very different than South Africa and Namibia.

Welcome aboard!

Welcome! Certainly glad to have you here with the rest of us! Looking forward to a great hunt report after your upcoming hunt!

I am under the impression that we could walk 5 to 8 miles per day in pursuit of an elephant. I don’t believe the terrain is as difficult as hunting elk in the Rockies. I’m pretty fit but I’m certain I’ll be tired at the end of the day.

Hey Odinsraven. Is that post from Jefferry 404 legitimate? I don't know him. Thanks!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
