NAMIBIA: Eintracht Jagd Safaris

All nice trophies! 200 yrds off sticks is no cake walk IMO.

Had a great run of hunters luck with Pieter Delport. Hunted in June 2018. Told him I had shot most of the common game animals and was looking for better trophies than I already had. In essence this meant Rowland Ward class animals. Wouldn’t you know it, he was able to come up with four Rowland’s and a beautiful 38.5 inch gemsbok bull. This was my 7 th Safari and second to Namibia. In seven hunting days we really hit the jackpot! Pieter is the real deal and is as skilled a PH as you will find. He can track as well as any tracker I have hunted with. I needed it on this hunt. I made some poor shooting decisions/shots. I took an Eland bull on a large high fenced ranch (20k ) . All others were free-range on 200,000 acres of friends and family property. The stocking of these animals were the highlight of the trip. Each animal takin was a good stalk and some were fantastic with a little luck thrown in. Pieter is a master at executing a stalk and setting up the sticks. No hiccups!! Right height, right direction. Animal has no chance if you can shoot. Most shots were 200 yds plus. Warthogs and Eland under 100 yds. The highlights are as follows: day one good warthog and 16.25” springbok. Day 2 , gemsboks bull, day 3 Hartman’s Zebra at Frikies ranch ( a friend) about 3 hours from main lodge and an hour west of Windhoek in the Khomas Highlands. Rough country. Great stocking. Day 4 24” hartebeest right at dark. Best shot of trip. Day 5 Eland about hours drive east and north of lodge. Left early morning and home at dark. Made a bad shot with 375 and took a couple of hours tracking to put him down. 38.5 inches around horn. Day 6 really nice warthog right at dark. Both warthogs look to be over 12 inches. Very nice, thick and even. Saw hundreds! Some real monsters with one side broken. I will get them on my next trip with Pieter. This trip I was really picking on everything. Wounded a cow gemsbok on the last day with a terrible shot. Dogs bayed animal and shot as it bolted. Hit its horn which it knocked off when it went under a barb wire cattle fence (41”). Needless to say I wasn’t happy with my shooting. I have lost two animals in all my trips and this one really hurt. We made a great stock and I didn’t come through on my end. The older you get the tougher it is to keep the sticks on target. I use to say shooting off sticks isn’t even fair. Now not so much. Especially at 200yds plus.
Pieter has good food, vehicles, and hunting lodge with a big fire and a great staff. I can’t wait for next hunt in 2020. Gonna be hard to find bigger ones. But maybe we will!

Awesome hunt! Your list is very similar to mine when i head over in 2020 to hunt with pieter adding a few more though. You happen to have any pics of the lodge you could post?

I don’t have pictures of the lodge, but the bow hunt report and other Eintracht reports do. The lodge is older but very comfortable and feels like a hunting camp. The bedrooms are newer and the showers are great. You will enjoy it and Pieter is the real deal and that’s what counts on hunts anywhere!
