Mozambique Pictures

Pheroze, very interesting question. My first 3 years was a trial period for the area, after I showed the benefit of making the area a hunting area, the govt made it into an official coutada. After the 3 years to my shock, they put the area on an open tender, after all the development etc, we did manage to win the tender, 20 year contract, so basically have had the area 7 years. Moz did lose a lot of game, but not all areas were hit as hard as others. In the beginning if we saw 20 sable in 2 weeks it was a lot, now we have plenty of different herds, some herds are close to 200. The game numbers have grown really well every year. The elephant numbers have really climbed. This can be because they feel safer on our area away from the bad poaching. We have got a good relationship with the locals and they give us a lot of support. At present the outside world is our biggest enemy, US F&W and the EU. Not being able to export our elephant to these countries really hurts us financially, as elephant is our main income. I hope over the next ten years, they will see the benefit of elephant hunting.
I am Canadian:A Rock:! And ivory is importable here. It's quite funny....I had an a older gentleman tell me one day ten years ago that if he was my age Mozambique is where he would go for his elephant. Maybe the stars will line up one day for us Simon! Who knows.

@Redruff , this time next week the Canadian flag will be flying high in camp.

They sure will be.

Now Simon, when I come your going to have to fly a Texas flag.

@gizmo , is that the same as the confederate flag????:cry::cry::P Cowboy::W Cal 50:

Kurt's stars and stripes?

We were the 4th state to secede and many of us, my self included, are secessionists.

The clock is counting down rather fast now, Brickburn already in Africa and Kurt close to catching his flight.

Kurt's stars and stripes?
No, my flag has 50 stars with 7 red and 6 white stripes.

After a 700 mile drive Wednesday, my flights start at 10:15 Friday morning...

Have a safe trip to airport and enjoy the flight. I am sure a few cold ones in Maputo Saturday will go down well.

Good Luck Kurt, I'm really happy for you(y)(y)(y).

@TMS Would you need to take malaria tablets if going to Moz?

I would strongly suggest taking malaria pills if you there for a short period. The pills that I find work the best is Mefliam, 6 pills for 6 weeks. Malarone is also good, but you have to take daily. Stay away from any tetracyclin.

I have stopped taking pills years back. Had malaria twice in 13 years. Just to give some advice, it takes 10-14 days for malaria to show signs, if you feel like any flu or sore bones head aches, best you have your blood tested asap....if negative, go again after 5 days for another test.

Ready for season..

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.
