Good day AH members and followers

Our last hunt of the season took place in Mozambique bordering the Kruger National Park. We are grateful to have ended the year on such a high.
Our clients arrived at KMI airport in Mbombela (previously Nelspruit) where we collected them and drove around four hours by motor vehicle passing the Komati Border post. There was a bit of a delay but we made it into camp before dark.
The next morning we headed out early in search of fresh tracks.

We were very lucky and fortunate to connect with a massive elephant. We are waiting for the tusks to be weighed but we estimate around 65-70lbs

That day will be sooner than you think. Can't wait to share that experience with you

Good day Safari1
The elephant was shot on the very first day. We found his tracks just after lunch and seeing that they were very fresh we decided to take a chance and follow them. Because of all the rain the bush is very lush and from where we picked up the tracks to where we found them feeding was not far at all. This bull was with about 7 younger bulls, which made approaching him a bit more challenging. We could see from its body size that this was a big bull but because the bush was so dense we struggled to see the tusks clearly. Once we got a clear view of the tusks, we knew that this is not a bull that we can pass on, and the decision was made very quickly to take him.
We saw plenty of elephant while hunting buffalo and we saw 5 to 6 more bulls that would have gone between 50 and 60 pounds.
With the buffalo it wasn't as easy as the thick bush made it really difficult to get a shot. Getting close was the easy part but getting a clear shot was very hard. We had a lot of stalks where we got close but just couldn't get a clear shot. The first bull was shot at about 10 yards and the second at about 15 yards.
November is a beautiful month as everything is green and water everywhere, but it makes for challenging hunting.
We do have a fence between us and Kruger but with the high numbers of elephant moving between us and Kruger the fence is nonexistent at places and the animals basically move freely around.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
