What do you suppose all this will all this actually mean? Same products and prices with a historic branding on some?

I don't know what it means, but I sure would like one.
(or two or three)

Like most things the second time around it is a crap shoot. If the name was bought by some soulless corporation be wary. If it is a known quality manufacturer of like products it may be worth checking out. IME

From their website:

DWM RELOADED!
A LEGEND IS COMING BACK
122 years ago, Ludwig Loewe joined with MAUSER und the „Deutsche Metallpatronenfabrik AG“ and founded the „Deutschen Waffen- und Munitionsfabriken“ in Berlin. In the following decades, “DWM” evolved into one of the most renowned brands for hunters around the world. Today connoisseurs still appraise the legendary DWM hunting cartridges and the Mauser 98-actions of the DWM 1908- and DWM 1909-series. Now the old alliance with Mauser is renewed and DWM is back. Stay tuned and learn more about a German legend and interesting products to come.

It’s brought out by the Mauser/Blaser/Sauer/Minox combinat. I think they might all be owned by Sig Sauer.

I posted that web link a while back in a thread about 1908 Brazilian Mauser actions.

My take is perhaps a Mauser controlled round feed action will be reintroduced - as a premium offering over the M12.

Mauser is manufacturing M98 rifles presently and the DWM above is M98 clone. As far as I can tell the only difference on the action from the original is different safety switch. They’ve even kept the thumb groove for loading stripper clips.

I think they will try to milk the sentiment towards DWM brand name and offer this version as a more premium product than their standard M98. No word yet on chamberings available. Their „normal” M98 is offered in staandard and mangum versions.

I expect first rate rifles from these guys....and a competitive price.....be fun to look at, anyway....FWB

The branding on the reciever ring, side rail, bolt release and floor plate is a bit much IMO. On the side rail would have been enough to give the old DWM brand the homage it deserves without the overblown advertising on the present offering. To me it is a bit like the overblown weatherby of yesteryear.

reminds me of when I recently sharpened some knives for a friend.
among them was a Winchester "limited edition" folder.
it is one of the worst things to try and sharpen, aven though looking attractive.
obviously the main thing about it was limited edition.
this branding, although it adds value to to seller, is worth nothing to the buyer.
bruce.

This will play out soon or just fade away.
Since I do not need another rifle, I will just wait and see.

Mauser name is owned by a conglomerate (Blaser Group). They have been selling the same Mauser 98 rifle without the DWM badging for several years. I agree the DWM name all over the action and bottom metal is too much.

It’s a good looking rifle for sure.

Same Mauser action found on the Rigby Highland Stalker (without DWM badging). Part of Blaser conglomerate.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
