Random question, but I'm hoping someone may have an answer.
I have a German Mauser 98k chambered in .257 Roberts. Looks like it was customized a long time ago. It came with a complex and interesting Stith scope mount (I think a model M3M) that I wish I could use, but it lacks the rings/parts to hold a scope to the bases. And parts appear to be hard to find.
The ridge for stripper clips is still present on the gun. The existing rear hole spacing is ~0.6" CTC and the receiver ring spacing is 0.86" CTC.
Based on what I could find in my searching, most Mauser bases seem to have 0.5" or 0.86" spacing on the rear holes.
Anyone know of a set of Mauser bases that measures ~0.6" for the rear/bridge?
I'm looking at Warne, which has a base set that works with unmodified Mausers with the stripper clip ridge, but they don't publish their hole spacing.
They also have a one piece base for Mausers with 3 tapped holes that might work, but they don't publish the spacing between the rear/bridge hole and the holes on the receiver ring.
I sent them an email to request the spacing info, but I'd like to go ahead and get some bases ordered before deer season ends.
Any info is much appreciated.
Best regards,
Matt
