Hi All.
I bought an old neglected .308 FR8 Spanish Mauser "fabrica de armas la coruna mauser" with Wilson Combat barrel and std Mauser 98 Bolt.
Besides the Action and barrel that needs re bluing id like to "clean up" the overall appearance of the bolt. Pictures attached you will see it looks well worn. Ive seen a number of people polishing bolts for smoother action, but I dont need that. I only want to remove most of the remaining Bluing and keep the bolt metalised silver shiny look on the middle sections of the bolt visible through the ejection port area.
Any advise will be appreciated.

Looks to be in very good shape!

Not an expert but I’m not sure that is blued - it could be a cerakote of some sort. If so, would probably need to be sand blasted off and then polished

These guys do a super nice polishing for a very reasonable price…

If you don’t want a shiny bolt you can always just cold blue it (super simple and inexpensive process).. and get the best of both worlds out of the deal (bolt will function smooth as silk in the action and will look a whole lot better once you’re done)…

thx. Where can one buy im assuming a cold bluing kit ?

Apologies, Only now released i posted in the wrong sub section. show be up to .375 Rookie mistake :-)

Lots of options on Amazon...

For touch ups I usually just use the basic birchwood casey permablue.. its about $12 a bottle.. if Im needing something that looks a little more consistent across a larger area or that might need to match a factory blue, Ive found the birchwood casey super blue to be a better product.. but.. its also 4x as much..

Super easy to use.. the video below shows you how..

If you know someone with a drill press and a vise, it could be jeweled. Use lapping compound and a wooden dowel in the chuck while the bolt is clamped in a vise.

Although I wouldn't do it this way, this video shows the principle.

And this actually give some to the gun

1. Les aeria contact between bolt and action = less friction = easy-going.
2. Dirt have somplace to live until cleaning.

I have not posted any items for sale on this forum and will not every put anything for sale. My account was hacked and I've worked with the admin to get things shut down.

My apologies for any grief that I may have caused you. I now have a pit in my stomach and I'm really pissed off and embarrassed. I feel that I have been made a fool of.

Please accept my apology.

Hello,
I might be able to help you out depending on how many you need. I could probably spare 50-75 .285g A-Frames. They are factory pulls that look like new. Let me know if you are still looking,
Thanks,
Gary
