His resilience is...inspiring? Incredible? Unusual? I am unsure of the word, so here is a sample of his experience.

Firing all those rounds got someone’s attention alright. The idiots decided it was a handgun being shot. They never investigated. ( FYI handguns can not be carried in Canada)

This erroneous conclusion on their part facilitated the Fish &’Wildlife Officers showing up to the hospital and repeatedly accusing Jeremy of using a handgun.
I guess it is a little strange to have someone saying they fought an attack off with their bare hands.
After all investigations were done by the experts, all the officers have been educated on the new reality. It can be done.

The Book is now into the third reprint here. I'll call it a success.

Newsweek apparently did a piece on Jeremy recently. Media, is like an avalanche.

Apparently, BBC is going to do some type of series for UK consumption.

Mauled is now going to be printed in the UK apparently. So, hope the folks across the salt water can get their hands on it more easily.

That is great news! I loved the description of the fellow described as being an "older" very tall friend. Seems like a pretty good guy.

Just stumbled on this and thought I would share as I was 'enlightened' this summer.

I went fishing early on our own land on Aug 6th, 200 yards from my cabin. Like I have for 30+ years... I was being too quiet and managed to get in-between a sow grizz and its cub unknowingly in the bush. By the time I realized I wasn't alone I was being aggressively charged from 20-30' and I had no time to react and just thought "this is it" and took one step and (blushes) literally passed out.... yep, fainting goat like I assume... I have no memory from that step to rolling over.

When I came too (seconds?) the Sow was pawing the ground and roaring 5' from my legs. I panicked and squirmed through the thick willow brush I was tangled in and she decided not to kill me I guess since I clearly was not a threat??

Anyways.... I realized that it happened so quick anything but a shouldered and loaded firearm would be useless. I did not have time to click off a safety, draw a pistol or bear spray ect…. Spray or a pistol while laying down would have been useable but the incident was over by then, I just wasn’t aware.

Now as to my fainting goat approach…. I’m not too embarrassed as it likely saved my life. I hunt coyotes all the time with my lil’ 17hmr and distress calls on this same property, I have chased black bears off from camps with only a stick or rocks… I have come into relatively close but not overly aggressive contact with wolf’s, cougars, rhino, elephant, one lion and many grizzly’s dozens of times…. Haha But this was not a normal encounter, which people do not get. It was a surprise and very aggressive charge, my only weapon was my fishing pole, but it really wouldn’t have mattered…..

There is no time to react even if I was armed unless I was shouldered and safety off (bought a double literally for the Alberta bush). I have never seen an animal move like this. I have no way to really describe what this was like… completely unlike anything I ever imagined it would be or experienced before with these creatures. I had absolutely no choice in my survival and was 100% aware of it. The bear chose not to kill me, that’s as simple as it was. While I was taking a nap. Haha

I definitely am jumpy here now. I will no longer hunt with a 260ai and a 2.5-10x scope. I have outfit my CZ550 458 lott, with a 1-4 Trjicon (left on 1x) and 350gr TSX @ 2800fps. I will go out expecting bear but looking for deer.

As to the comments on bears coming to gunshots, I believe this and have witnessed it twice target shooting in the forest reserves before being charged. There are multiple generations of Grizzly who have never been hunted… This problem will get worse, I have no doubt.

I sent this to the author yesterday. He had a good laugh. "LOL, that's awesome"
Anyone knowing the story gets the joke.

Jeremy is sharing his experience doing speaking engagements/presentations. He just finished one for a local SCI club.
Plenty of people getting to learn.

@BRICKBURN I’m not sure how I missed this thread, but I will be buying a copy of this book.

I hope your friends recovery has gone well, and that he musters the courage to return to the hills!

I was having a discussion with a friend who is one of the most experience hunter i have ever known, I had to many trophy under his belt and he said the best way to prevent getting mailed by a bear is to split up(assuming everyone is well armed). it give each person a chance to take a kill shot. so like i said
"Circle it and shoot to kill"

If you're are going to be charged and mauled you won't barely have time to lift your firearm from a rest to aim before it happens in most cases... just fyi.

There is no time to circle around and "take a kill shot" unless you are in no threat and just plain old hunting it...

1 or 2 seconds from not knowing its there, to it being on you ripping and tearing... Good luck.

The bores just woke up, this is friday march 17. Southern Alberta. Just a little male, shoulder height only 4'-5' or so referencing the fence posts.

Planning is coming together! Just waiting to hear back from a couple outfitters to see what their availability is for this year, if any, and I'll be booking my first African hunt. Fingers crossed I can get one slotted for late August/first couple weeks of September.
