Markhor in Afghanistan

Curious if anyone knows how the population of the Markhor, ibex are.

Thanks for the information. They are magnificent looking animal we would see a few from time to time when I was over there. I know the ibex would get poached quite often. I’m sure markhour were also
 
In this case, local communities are involved in conservation by getting a good incentive. So, probably there is some poaching, but they keep an eye to their herds.
Markhor is more expensive then white rhino to hunt. (100 k)
Very good reason to keep herds in numbers.

Speaking for hunt in Pakistan. Not sure about Afghanistan, though.
