This is strange. Twice (maybe three times) I have booked with layovers in Frankfurt and never had a transit permit. No problems. My guns just went through to my final destination flight. Guess I missed that transit permit in the regs. Long daytime layovers in the airport. Never been an issue. Wonder how I missed that? I really looked hard when doing my homework. Not hard enough I guess.

I have a transfer via Munich on the way to Zagreb and have not been told I need a transit permit so am assuming I don't

When I spoke to the German police, they said I defiantly did need one and risked being refused entry on to my second flight without it, no one asked to look at it at any point though.

You really have to pay close attention to Lufthansa luggage rules. For example flying from the USA to Munich with my skis zero problem. The return trip different rule applied according to the desk agent. After about 15 minutes she finally relented and used the USA rules.

BTW, I just checked Lufthansa their ammo policy is GROSS weight and includes the locked case with max being 11lbs

Also be careful with your hand luggage - they really will measure and weigh everything, and the size of the hand luggage (and personal item) is much much smaller than that for the US airlines. Will result in your bag being sent through as checked. Made this mistake using a US airline outbound and Lufthansa on return.

They did check everyone in economy for size of their luggage. Didn’t bother with business or first class carry ons.

What kind of plane is that. It is a very unique cabin configuration. Not a private as some but looks very roomy.

Some sort of airbus not sure. It was roomy and food was great. It did have a privacy screen that came up as well. I am at Frankfurt about to board for Windhoek. And I have a feeling it will be a step down

The flight down on business class was not worth the full ticket amount. I got it for an upgrade but I was unimpressed. Safe travels. Try the beef cheek if they have it .

They also do for Premium Economy based on my experience, but agree that they were more lax on the Bus/First.

Yes I've never flown much and upgraded on one flight coming home, when I checked bag waiting in normal line, they told me I could have not waited in the priority lineup.
