I am looking for Winchester mod 70 classic stainless 375 H&H magazine and follower. My brother bought the rifle a few years ago for a future Cape Buffalo hunt, and while i was mounting the scope, I discovered the rifle is not feeding right, and the last round pops out of the magazine. I have the same rifle and compared it to mine and discovered the problem. If you can help us out that would be great! This is the rifle he had intended to hunt Buffalo with and it can not be used as is, so if we can't fix it, he will have to purchase a different rifle!

Thank you for your time!

Hard to get that follower as many have been purchased from Winchester. If you give Winchester your serial number they will sell you one. Mine was a 458 win mag that I had to alter to fit longer cartridge overall length. I ended up getting a Weatherby polymer magazine which works awesome. Only needed a little sanding to fit the box and was like $12. Not sure how the box would cause an issue so can't help you there.

I had the opposite issue with my model 70 in 375h&h - the follower was binding in the mag box when fully loaded causing the rounds to not feed. I called Winchester and they offered to send me a new follower for free. I ended up just sanding down the follower slightly to get it feeding properly, but it's with giving them a call. The person I spoke with was very knowledgeable and super helpful.

They would not help me without giving them the serial number for confirmation. Good to know that they may be helpful. Give it a shot and see what they are willing to do for you.

Take a piece of blue painters tape and apply it to the left side of the follower. See if this fixes the problem until it can be permanently fixed. Also, did you try your follower and mag box? Oftentimes it’s not that simple.

Another option is to source a pre64 magnum follower (steel) from eBay, and use a Mauser spring. The pre64 follower is wider, but is easily filed and smoothed to travel in the mag box without binding. This has fixed the same issue in a similar classic 375hh.

We managed to modify the mag box we had and used a 300 prc follower and got it feeding like it should!

Call Andy at Sunny Hill, I'm working with him on a few projects and I see your in need of a mag box also, while i did have a few I'm hoping he will bring them back into production, he already makes a very nice floor plate. Tell him Charlie Barnes sent ya after seeing your post.

Sir, I will gladly take that 16 gauge off your hands. I was waiting for your Winchesters but I'm a sucker for a 16 ga.

I bought a great deal of the brass he had for sale, plus I already had many hundred rounds.

How much brass are you looking for?
