Been looking in all the usual places for cleaning supplies for 470 nitro express and keep coming up empty. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

According to AI.......

For a .470 Nitro Express (which has a groove/bore bullet diameter of approximately .474 inches), use a .45 caliber or .50 caliber brush and a .45 caliber jag (or a specialized big-bore/custom .470 jag). Standard American cleaning rods and attachments typically feature 8-32 threads

I bought a kynoch 470 brush and jag fromAfrican Sporting Creations. Looks like they are out of 470 right now.

I'm looking for plastic jags and nylon brushes for my big bore. Any ideas from your search?

Depends on size of rifle bore but a 20g brush is perfect for a 600NE and a 28g brush is perfect for 505G / 500 J / 500NE rifle . I’d guess a plastic 28g brush would also work in a 470 or 475NE as well .

I found some 500 NE jags and nylon bore brushes at Deweys. Im using some serious cleaning products that remove a lot of copper.

Kynoch ( Kynamco) are out of business . I got all my big rifle brass jags and brushes from them . Also my snap caps . No idea where to get this stuff now .

I put a patch on my 458 brush- 470 brushes and jags are unavailable

Beware of spotless cleaning, I did the same thing when I got my .470ne and took all the copper out of the bores; then had to shoot 10rnds through each barrel to get the groups to return to normal.

Now I just swab the bores with Balistol.

Do you mind me asking what auction you are referencing? I'm not in the market for any of those rifles...just curious.

Good morning from Montana.

I'm looking at a post from 2018 where you were looking for a lefty Winchester in .375 H&H Magnum. I'm selling mine. My email is [redacted] in the event that you're still searching for a unicorn.

Best,

Kelly Palmer
Gents, if you book and pay your deposit before the end of this year , you can have the bigger cull package for the 2026 price! https://www.africahunting.com/threa...griffiths-safaris-starting-at-us-2-560.96285/
