I relatively inexperienced in the long range shooting but am very interested in such.
Will post some photos soon but what I want to ask is the following:
At what range as in distance does spin drift really start to affect the travel?
Ditto for the Coriolis effect??

My 300 Winchester magnum target rifle.

I’m now using the Hornady 208 grain ELD match bullets powered by 81 grains AR2225 (compressed load).
This load gives very little variation in fps.

Spin drift is a small fixed amount based on rifling/range. Coriolis is more of a headache, but ballistics calculators can help as Brickburn pointed out. (Aiming towards the equator the bullet floats west, away it floats east, parallel impacts drop more).

Both are 3rd order things, so focus on wind and drop. Once you hit those two, focus on the others. They are usually on order of 2-4cm at 1000m IIRC.

If you are feeling extra nerdy on the subject, I recommend:

Wife says I’m an alien nerd
Believe me it’s not a compliment
Increasing volume and tone

Didn’t help when I said
Wait for it
I can’t figure out the algorithm to that
Went ballistic

You are who you are.

Best of luck in your long range pursuit.

How much distance scope adjustment do you have with those rings. I usually run out of adjustment of the scope. Unless starting with a tilted base of some type.

Simple calc.
Check specks of your scope, and vertical field of view.
If, for example, field of view is 50 moa, this means that 25 moa is up, and 25 moa is down.
So, you can use 20 moa piccatiny rail.
In that case after installation, this will be theoretical 5 moa for adjustement up and 45 moa to adjust for bullet drop. And you can zero the scope on 100.meters, as starting set up.

I have a nightforce 12-42x50 scope

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
