I’m loading up some Barnes 300g banded solids for the first time for my 375HH.

Maybe I’ll save myself some time by asking for help here.

Do you have any tips? I’m curious if I need to change anything from the 75g load of Big Game I’m using for 300g Barnes TSX?

I’m hoping I won’t need to change the load or even the seating die (assuming the ogive will provide the correct OAL)

Thanks for your help!

The Barnes load data is online and 75 grains is well below the max load published by Barnes

Don’t just swap them 1:1.

Barnes data shows a shorter OAL for the 300 gr Banded Solid 3.545" versus the TSX 3.570". Your 75 gr Big Game is in the ballpark for the TSX, but the solid’s bands change bearing surface and pressure curve a bit, so start lower and work up carefully while watching primers cases.

Seating die the ogive isn’t identical, so measure the actual loaded OAL and confirm it chambers cleanly. Don’t assume the same setting will give you the right length or proper neck tension.

Load a few test rounds, chronograph if you can, and verify point of impact. Plenty of guys get them close enough for practical use, but treat it as a new load development, not a drop in.

Nue,
Thanks very much. That is the exact info I needed to hear.

Thank you for the LIKE on my old post. It brought back memories as I lost her a year and a half ago, at 18+ years.
