As silly as it sounds.. you do have to wonder why FSB Alpha Group (Russia's version of "Delta"), supported by 45th Guards Spetsnaz (their version of the US Ranger Regiment) and one of their KSSO Special Operations Aviation units hasnt made an attempt to snatch or kill key Ukranian military leaders (to include Z)..

Russia loves to tout its Alpha Group as the best Counter Terrorist team on the planet (clearly they are not.. but Russia does love to tell everyone that they are).. you'd think theyd be flexing those guys and getting them some real world experience much like we had our special mission unit guys fully engaged in hunting down and taking out Al Queda, Taliban, ISIS, etc leadership from the very beginning until the very end of the GWOT..

Alpha Group has been in Ukraine since the beginning of that conflict (they were likely there weeks, if not months before Russia invaded actually).. but to my knowledge theyve really only been used in shock troop type roles.. they were identified early on conducting ambushes on motor vehicle movements (targeting supplies, not people), and were identified at a couple of major airport seizures.. and theyve been identified on a few more traditional SOF type missions (operating in Ukraine held territory, neutralizing air defenses, etc)..

But to my knowledge they havent struck a single high profile member of the Ukranian military..

Im guessing they know they lack the skill sets and the capability..
