I was out prepping with my old Model 70 300 Weatherby for an upcoming elk hunt in the rockies in British Columbia. The gun wears a high power leupold vx-6 that's probably 10+ years old at least. I realized as I shoot that I'm missing turret cap. No clue when or how I lost it.

On following business day, called Leupold and told them I needed to buy one. Give the guy serial number, he tells me what I need, asks for my address, etc. Then he says goodbye and i stop him. I told him I never gave him a credit card for payment. He said it would be no charge. Then he said he'd also send a 2nd one so both caps match!

I own over 45 leupold scopes and have never had to call customer service-thats how good their stuff has been for me. But to replace a part for free that I LOST--not their fault at all--is unprecedented service in this day in age (lifetime warranty or not).

I wasn't intending on switching brands anyway, but they got a "lifer" for that experience.

Yes sir they are good, I had a vintage Leupold on a Pre-64 Super Grade in .300H&H and was about to send it via broker to a buddy in Australia; so before sending it over I decided to send it to Leupold to have them check it out/service it.

They got back to me and said that there was an issue with an internal adjustment rod and they would be repairing it free of charge and gave me the option to have it replaced with a new scope.

I declined the replacement, so they repaired it and polished/recoated the lenses for free; all it cost me was the shipping to Leupold.

Pretty damn good for a 50+ year old scope!

I posted this Leupold customer service story a while back. My wife (girlfriend at the time) wanted to buy me something hunting related and wanted to get me a pair of binoculars. So, she purchased a set Leupold binoculars for me. Used them hard for almost 17-18 years, and something broke on them. Called Leupold, and they told me send it to them. 3-4 weeks later, a packaged arrived with a brand-new set of binoculars, not the same model (no longer available) I sent, but newer and better model. Broke my heart that I no longer had the ones my wife bought me. However, she was cool with it, because she bought the original pair, and now I had a newer pair. No question asked from Leupold on how I broke them, nothing. I'm a loyal fan.

There is no other manufacturer of any product that has even close to what Leupold has. I have been a loyal fan for over 65 years and with only one exception (it was a gift) have I ever used anything except a Gold Ring scope. And in the very few cases where I had a problem it was always solved quickly with a brand new scope, no matter the age or the condition. And, always with no questions asked.

In one old man's opinion they are the best. Period!

Similar experience when I needed one of the small 'Allen' wrenches for the CDS dial. Offered to pay and they sent 2 at no charge.
Yep, I had just several days before a safari and realized I couldn’t find the hex screw for my scope. Couldn’t find the size I needed anywhere either

Leupold expedited two screws at no cost and said good luck on the safari! (Ended up not using them as scope as still dead on after flights)
