Let's See Your Lever Action

@curtism1234
Easy solution
Send it off to JES and get it re bored to 358.
Loaded with 225gn Woodleigh RNSP it will flatten game. Even big Sable bulls. You won't recover many bullets tho.
How do I know this. @Rick HOlbert took one to Namibia recently and got these results. He would have liked to find a BIG eland to try it in so he could maybe recover a projectile.

Unfortunately the Japanese BLR can not be rebored unless it is the takedown model. The old steel receivers can

One you drool over with nice wood, the other you insult.
At least we know which side of your toast is buttered.
I do like wood tho.
At least the pig gun didn't have lights, lasers and bipod hanging off the m lock friend.
Tactical levers may have a use but .........
Maybe you can get a plastic stock for your BLR so y'all can hunt Alaska.
I still have my original 92 in 25-20 with its original 1927 stainless steel octagon barrel.
Bob
The BLR actually has a plastic like coating on it so safe for Alaska.

Not exactly suitable for African Game.....but.....levergun it is.

Below are some 25, 50, 100, 200 and 300 yard targets shot with an Uberti Winchester 73'. The 44-40 can be more accurate and powerful than most people think, when loaded correctly, for such ranges, when using smokeless powders.

Aside from using a 6x scope with these old eyes, a young man with good eyes could do the same with open sights or peep sights.

amateurish at best...

The Loads:
  • 25.5gr of Reloder 7
  • Accurate Mold's 43-214A cast 215gr average, resized to .428" (.429" rifle bore)
  • Star Line Brass
  • Various Primers that were readily available, however CCI300's worked best.
Dies:
  • RCBS Resizing Die
  • Lyman "M" Die with 44 Mag plug
  • RCBS Seating Die
  • Redding Profile Crimp Die
The Rifle:
  • Uberti Winchester 73', 24" barrel
  • Malcolm 6x scope
Ballistics:
  • 1,350fps
  • <13,000cup pressures
  • 12 degree impact angle at 300 yards
  • 950fps impact velocity at 300 yards (revolver velocities at the muzzle)
Shooting Method:
  • Bench Rest
Targets:
  • 25 Yards, 50 yard zero
  • 50 Yards, 50 yard zero
  • 100 Yards, 100 yard Zero
  • 200 Tards, 200 yard zero
  • 300 Yards, 300 yard zero (2022)
Weather:
  • Winds calm, or light and variable. Higher winds can double the group size.
  • Temps, various hot and cold, humid and dry.

This is my most unique log splitter, I mean lever gun. A 450 Marlin, cut down to 16.125”, and threaded. Topped with an Ashley mount and a 1.75-6 Leupold. Also the most accurate lever gun I’ve ever fired. Without can it kicks harder than a 458 win bolt gun. Pachmeyer pad did help with that some.

Wyosteve I apologize if I offended you. Please forgive my ill concieved attempt at humor. The short barrel and scope will make it a fine rifle for hunting in the thickets pigs prefer. I use my BLR takedown in 358 for the same reasons. What caliber is your pig gun?

Here’s one of mine a Model 71 in 348 Winchester.
She’s been in the woods with me a few times, but I haven’t taken any game with her yet. View attachment 700671
That's a classic. One of the old guys in our club had one, haven't seen one since.

I love lever actions but the winchesters throwing brass out the top affected my vision for follow up shots. Just couldn’t get past it. If I find a model 88 in 284 I may just break my winchester jinx.

Not the same thing of course, but Henrys don't top eject, and have the smoothest action I've ever experienced.

I was surprised when I got the Henry just how good the action is, even compared to my 100 year old Savage or to a Winchester 94. Really a lot of fun to shoot and with Buffalo Bore ammo, it can produce a wallop.

I also own a model 88. Mine is in 308. Always on the lookout for one chambered in 358. One day, I’ll pick one up.
Anyways, here’s some pictures of mine. She’s a shooter!!

Can't get enough of the Savage 99. One of the AH members even shot a kudu with one in 300 Savage. The previous owner of mine claimed he killed a bear in self defense with it.

Not sure your price range. Have a 375 H&H with a muzzle brake. Nice rifle only fired a few times. Also a Mossberg 375 Ruger its been used and shows a few hunts on it.
