Well last year I sold my .404, that left me with three different .375s (a Mauser, a Blaser R8, and a Heym double) but nothing bigger. Then I found a deal I just couldn’t pass up. A nice 500/416 for a price that was simply too good to be true. Now I’m just waiting on the export license from Spain.

I know ammo isn’t very common but I plan to simply work up a load and make sure I have enough components to load for it for my lifetime.

A great gun and excellent cartridge

That is a great looking gun, I own the same but in a basic finish. I'm getting used to shooting and reloading for it. I have an upcoming trip where it is going to get a fair bit of use, it will be interesting to see how it performs in the real world. Good luck with your new gun.

According to Krieghoff in Germany it was regulated with 410 grain Woodleigh softs loaded by LFB in Germany. I've found a good supply of Norma ammo with 410 grain Woodleigh softs, so I'm going to try a box of those and see how it regulates. I've also found some 410 grain Woodleigh solid component bullets, so I'll take some of the fired brass and load those to the same velocity.

Once I get those loads going I may try some other bullets, probably North Fork softs and Cup nose solids.

Out of curiosity what would be fair market value for a rifle like this today? I know I got a good deal, but I'm curious as to what something like this would typically sell for?

Nice looking rifle. I took my 500/416 to Moz last fall and it is now my second favorite rifle I own. (My 9.3 double is my favorite)

I was so impressed with the way it has shot and laid on enough reloading supplied to last me a lifetime. I also sold off or traded my larger doubles as this meets all my double DG requirements.

I shot 400gr Aframes and Northfork CPS on the moz trip. This trip was all about my wifes buffalo hunt so I didn't shoot any DG with it this trip it was DRT on Suni-Zebra.

Absolutely beautiful!

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
