Just purchased a 416 Taylor - Yep seemed like a good idea !

Accurate Arms has published pressure tested data.
Other sources list H4895 and Varget giving 2300+ fps. I would like to see pressure tested data from Hodgdon
Yes, I load my 425 Express now successfully for years with H4895 too. Sadly its not available anymore around here! Great powder for Africa, all the way good performance.

mmm you are encouraging me - have reamers coming for a 318wr/425 wr build with quick change barrels - probably off a savage action - think stainless with baby poop Rhodesian camo over in a tactical stock !
425 WR? 425 Westley & Richards? If yes, Overthink that round, because of scarce brass, scarce bullets (dia .435), difficulties in feeding even in a Mauser action, because of the smaller rim!

My dies are Lee… when I built my Taylor they were pretty easy to come by… I think I got them from midway and they were only about thirty five bucks then…

Today Taylor dies seem to be unobtainium…

Yeah they are. I have wanted the Taylor ever since learning about it from you gents here. However, for this one I decided to acquire the dies first.
Good construction of a plan!
The dies are available @ Redding real time! So go for it! Those things wont get cheaper!

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
