Juneteenth??

For the "moderates"/aka liberal members who think all is nice and peaceful, this is reality, not some sugar coated tripe you see on CNN or the other leftist pieholes. It's just another George Floyd protest.

Agree history in school isn't what it was years ago. This younger generation really don't have any idea about our past history.if it's before Obama they have no clue.
I entirely agree. I think one of the reasons why America is at the place we currently are is because we do no emphasize history and civics in schools like we once did. These are the discussions we need to have, from the good to the bad to the ugly of American history.

13% .

13% of this country are negro.

I know not what percentage the negro actually participates in the acts of looting and arson that have come about during the alleged protest because some fellow negro died after his unfortunate interaction with the police that the majority of these alleged protesters have no idea even what the corpses name was, where he died, or what sort of arch villain he may or may not have been..... and that lack of knowledge has also infected the caucasians who have thrown in with their equally brainless brethern........ though the negro don't seen them as they brethren as they are seen.

"Juneteenth"? Who the hell made that up? Maybe the same guy who came up with, " my bad" or other silly stuff like the " soul shake". I can't buy into it.

Too much horse apples for me.

May I ask which country you are from?

Sometimes it is good to refocus on the good things Americans have done, rather than the bad. In Los Angeles County, for example, there are 77 free health and dental clinics, public schools are free with free breakfast and lunch, there is free college on line as well as free tuition, free sports, free counseling, mortgage assistance, rent assistance, water and sewer payment help, power bill help, food pantries, baby supplies, school supplies, free clothing thrift stores, legal aid, even an electronics subsidy program. This is only a portion of the subsidies, charities and help you provide to make LA better. Americans, I commend you. But also warn you, .... throwing more money at the problems may not solve them........best of luck......FWB

Two points to consider: Work, regardless of how hard, has no market value. The results of the work, no matter how easily they were produced, are what has value. and
Is it the populations' responsibility to provide for those that have less than others? In short, all variations of government and solutions to perceived problems follow from how those two points are addressed.

All well and good but nothing is free. Someone or some entity is paying for it through higher taxes and higher prices. The flip side of free stuff is that in today's political climate, it's taken for granted and people feel entitled to it. Beside that, it's not taken care of the same way as something that's the result of working.

Just look at the spiraling healthcare costs in Medicare because doctors can order superfluous tests knowing that the patient will not complain because they do not have to foot the bill.

Disagree. It has more to do with liability than footing the bill. You may want to speak with a doctor or hospital administrator about it.

Without being schooled in medicine, how does a patient know that a test ordered by his doctor is superfluous?

Liability is certainly part of the equation, but it is hardly the only driving factor. I recently took an ownership stake in a healthcare company working with Medicare patients. You would be shocked (well, you probably would not be) by the difference between many patients' RAF score and the actual billing. Even more interesting is that the biggest discrepancies are for patients on Medicare for disability. When CMS shows them going between multiple doctors, each one of them ordering slews of tests and referring them out to countless specialists for problems that do not amount to more than a sore elbow, you know that the system is broken.

Normally, the patient does not. However, patients are far less likely to ask questions when they have no skin in the game, and doctors are far more likely to "play it safe" when ordering tests and the like because they know that the government is paying for it. With all of this excess billing, Medicare loses money, compensates doctors less, and drives up costs. Now, doctors have to bill even more to account for lost revenue. Back to the patient, if you take your car into the mechanic and you never have to pay the bill, do you really care what the mechanic does?

Never said it wasn't broken. You said the bills were the result of too many tests. Doctors and hospitals are running scared of the liability issue. If I switch doctors, absolutely he's going to order more tests. Ask them what their malpractice premiums are and why.

Professional liability coverage is my biggest headache right now. At the hospital level, yes, one of the largest cost drivers. However, I maintain that on the national level, one of if not the biggest cost drivers is Medicare paying the way. Another example, the average number FIT tests billed per patient for every FIT test completed is around 5:1. What is the likelihood that a patient will ignore a FIT test if they are going to have to pay at least some of the cost to get another one, and what is the likelihood that a doctor is going to keep ordering them if the patient will not pay.

You just made the argument for government interfering in a market economy. Subsidize something and you get more of it.

Reread my post, I made the argument against interfering in the market economy.

The forces involved with medical costs: Costs associated with research and development of procedures/medications/equipment. Costs of labor (particularly the supply of labor limited by medical certification boards/schools). Costs of administration of health services due to billing requirements, risk management and adherence to government regulations.

@Saul, I'll leave you with one thing to ponder. Were those looters, protesters and other criminals, supporters of the Republican or Democrat party? Were they voters recruited by Obama back when he was an organizer trying to increase the black voter base? You can bet on it.

A vote for Trump is a vote for jobs. A vote for Biden is a vote for mobs.

Now I'm off to the hay and bean fields for some groundhog remediation. :D

You classify protesters as criminals? Enough said.

You cannot just throw that little bit about groundhogs in at the bottom without mentioning what you are using. 220 Swift I bet.
