Last year I purchased belt and some ammo slides from Jacques Tredoux in South Africa. I was very impressed by the quality and have gotten several compliments.

I hate carrying ammo in the boxes they come in. The cardboard comes apart and they are generally just terribly inefficient. So I had an idea for an ammo pouch that could go in my backpack or other bag on the truck and carry spare ammo to refill what’s on my belt when needed.

I emailed Jacques and described what I was looking for. He got right back to me and said he would work on something. I didn’t hear anything for about a month and figured he was busy with other things.

Well last week he sent me some pictures of a finished product and asked if that would work. It was almost exactly what I wanted, so I said yes. He said great he would put it in the mail the next day. He charged me $170 including international shipping, which I think is incredibly reasonable for essentially a custom designed product in a short period of time.

I’m attaching the pictures he sent me since they are better than what I could take. Also a few I took showing it full of cartridges.

It is cartridge specific and holds 20 375 H&H rounds.

I would highly recommend anything Jacques makes and suggest they if you have an idea for something he doesn’t list he might be able to make it for you.

Very nice. I normally have my spare rounds in an MTM box. Nowhere near the look and feel of leather and potentialy a lot more noise. I definately like your solution.

Has the disadvantage that you probably still need the MTM box for airline travel. But I do like it for both security in the field. This isn’t coming open on accident. Also just had a quality feel.

Bottom line if you want some leather products drop Jacques a line. I’m convinced he can make about anything you can come up with.

I love his work, i have a canvas and Leather sling from him on my 375 Safari Express, still need some other accessories, so will definitely stop by him soon. Might even add this to my wish list.

That sling is the most comfortable sling on a rifle with a barrel band that i have had, and i tried several others before this one. Stil need one more for a Brno that also have a barrel band.

Very nice. Much better than plastic or cardboard

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
