It’s like a disease isn’t it

Ah yes, passing on the heirlooms as the end nears...great feeling.

In the mean time, taking them hunting, passing on the knowledge, the experiences, the ethics, the very reasons for hunting so that they appreciate what they inherit is even better isn't it?
Having faith in the end that they completely understand that the well placed shot they will take with it at the end of a great stalk is a tiny part of what it's all about.

Love that part too.

Aside from that, I would just say that walking into a bar near closing time to ask the patrons for assistance with your alcohol addiction would be more successful that coming to this forum to ask for help to not buy a firearm of any kind. :giggle:

Memories with my lovely Heym double and my leopard (wife, i.e. CINC House) on the trail of a huge elephant in Zim. Unfortunately the ele disappeared...

The bolt gun in the first photo is the PH's well worn Mark X .458 Lott.

Prior be me becoming its caretaker, my Heym 88B took more than one elephant, rhino, at least two lions, buffalo, and other game. It is a .458 Winchester that for me dropped buffalo, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, sable, warthog, and other game. This year she will take a lioness.

Absolutely fantastic. See if you can get your .458 Winchester Magnum double to regulate with 500Gr Nosler Partitions. Absolutely lethal lion bullet.

H-H, Thanks, good to know. She regulates with 500 gr Cutting Edge and their 470 gr Safari Raptors. I do however have some 500 gr Partitions that I may have time to try.

Sorry, I am NOT your man. Your wife will hate me, because I'm behind the keyboard going "do it! And I want to see the pics!" There's nothing better than buying a gun vicariously.

Wow! I thought I was the only one…

I too have started doing this. I bought a bunch of .475 bullets to justify saving for the inevitable rifle. Dies and brass will be along shortly.
I have bought more than a few rifles because someone gave me a box of ammo in a caliber I didn't have. Had 2 cases of 9.3x62 for almost a year before I found a rifle it fit; that closeout ammo sale price was too good to pass up! Currently have both the 450NE and the #2 ready to load for as soon as I find something I can convince myself I can afford to shoot it through! :ROFLMAO:

I want a 450 #2 so bad. I am starting to think about picking up a No. 1 and getting it built for the cartridge (would have to make sure it is possible first.) My first double will likely be a 470 but no guarantees...

Long ago I bought a can of .38 Super reloads from an older gentleman years before I owned a pistol in that chambering. Now I own four. I have dies, new cases, bullets, and loaded ammo for 9.3x74R just in case a nice double presents itself at a price I can't resist.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
