I blame Bob N 35 whelen

@CBH Australia
You shouldn't be using a 243 period
I did load some 95gn ballistic tips for a mate and they were an abject failure. You never knew if they were going to just pencil thru, blow up or work as intended.
We switched to 95gn SST and he never looked back
Bob
@Bob Nelson 35Whelen —- Bob, did I read your post correctly YOU hand loaded some ammo in .243?? (“95gn ballistic tips for a mate..”?). You seem to be “flirting” a lot with the .243 and you know where that can lead — Next you’ll be hunting with one and that leads to buying one……I’m gonna be WATCHING Bob !!

Hey … come on now @HankBuck. The people who pack/transport Budweiser and Tooheys don’t necessarily drink it, do they:unsure:o_O:D Cheers: :A Stirring: :A Banana:?

I feel as if I may have joined a cult. 35 whelen is the cartridge that will not only basically make you a better marksmen but improve looks, intelligence, sexual stamina.
I missed out on the first round of Lipsey’s Ruger African and regretted it and swore if they reissued I would have one, well any under 2000.00. Browsing GB several new ones have pooped up.
I browsed all of them and hot damn one ending on 6 hours and in Duncan, OK. I live in OKC so threw a bid and figured no way I would get it since after the initial allocation they were bringing big money. You know where this is going, I won…wooo hoooo $1500 rough all in.
I am retired so figured I would drive down and pick up so no damage in shipping. Lay eyes on the mythical beast that alluded me the first time. Huge let down, plain as she could be. Kinda like getting a blind date with one of five sisters in my home town. All were drop dead gorgeous, except the one. You guessed it that one came home with me.
1.5 hour drive home with plain Jane in back seat, also had to have the Bog death grip bipod. Now roughly 1850 on the most gawd awful 2x6 piece of furniture and sticky bolt imaginable. One of the other members here mentioned length of pull is a little off so finger on trigger also off.
Return trip home almost made it past the Casinos on I-44,almost, $3850 and still not home yet. During drive decided this piece of engineering excellence is a costly SOB and going to be a retro rifle for me.
Cheap, came with one inch rings so my extra Swarovski 5i’s or Leupold’s with illumination will not fit. Leupold VariX 3 3.5 10x40 from back of gun safe it is. LOP will be addressed with a cheap Tourbon leather lace up stock cover. 4 boxes of 2 different ammo from Optic Planet. $4000 and counting with free scope and rings.
Thanks! BobNelson35whelen, never listen to people from down under, they live their entire lives upside down and have been known to eat vegamite.
Hopefully range time next week, she best be a shooter or the classifieds will get a new listing.
:-) thanks Bob!
It's always a good day to blame Bob ;)

In case no one has mentioned it already, Ruger will exchange your rings for 30 mm rings. Just call up their service department. Give them the serial number. Tell him what height rings you want or tell him what the objective Bell is on your scope and they’ll tell you what you need.

Loaded for them to try and educate them. They used 87gn projectiles for everything and couldn't figure out why it failed to kill all the time. Despite much discussion they wanted me to still load that bullet but I snuck some nice 95gn SST in and the kill rate went up dramatically. Tried the ballistic tips but they were a failure and twice the price.
When I stopped loading the 95s they went back to the 87s again and continued failing. Some people just never learn.
I will NEVER own one let alone hunt with one unless I end up suffering from dementia and even then you might have a hard time

So do you think the little more speed or the size of animals or bullet placement why we have had good work out of the 6mm rem?

A large % of my wife’s and my shooting was done with 80gr bullets old green and white box rem 80gr corlock for her rifle and the 80gr federal blue box for mine.
They have stoped making both loads.
So when/if our stock runs out I will have to look for something else ( probably 100gr)
And we both have had a lot of one shot stops.
Actually with her I think she had 2 problems 1 took a second shot the other the scope broke.

It’s like you’re “swearing” to the Father of your Prom date that You “only got to 3rd base” BUT she’s Pregnant —- yet You keep denying !!

Ah, but that could be because all your friends hit a home run and she thought you were weird….
But we digress….
(The Australians amongst us are saying "what’s new with that"….)

Yeah, I’m with you.
I think Bob is in the closet with his .243

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
