I'm missing the front stock screw for my m46. The one that goes thru the forend & in to the rear site, barrel ring.
I'm drawing a complete blank on finding out what size it is to buy a replacement. I've tried all the usual gun sources in the US & all i can find its front & rear action screws.

Can anyone help with the size please?!

Only a guess, but possibly metric? I believe Simpson Ltd handle a number of Husqvarna rifles. They might be able to let you know what it is.

I called Simpson's this morning & they were.... less than helpful.

Not probably what you want to hear but you dont really need that screw and rifle will probably shoot better without it, by allowing the barrel to float.

Did you try Numrich Gun Parts?
Brownells?
Jack First Gun Parts?

Yessir, all 3. None of them have it in stock & nobody seems to be able to tell me the thread diameter & pitch. I assumed metric, but it seems to suit somewhere between M4 & M5 & the thread pitch is too coarse. I have a pitch gauge, but it won't go in the hole!

Would make sense. Mauser used British made machine tools so imperial dimensions and Whitworth thread forms.

UNC uses 60 degree included angle whereas Whitworth used 55 degrees with rounded crests. TPI generally differed but some were the same.

Note: while a lot of the firearm threads used the Whitworth thread form, the TPI were often manufacturer specials ie didn't match either the Whitworth or BSF standard.

my old model 70 in 3006 shot better with the third screw into the barrel taken out. i made a dummy screw( short no threads) and used alittle lock tight to hold it in.
