HELP NEEDED!! Ducks Unlimited Auction hunt with Kuche Safaris

When you get a heads up from someone, it will raise their concerns for attention. Pay attention, if it is not an issue for you (multiple hunting groups in the lodge, etc) then just go hunting and have fun. If it is an issue for you, raise it with the Outfitter and see if they have an option for you. Solve the problem. If it is a deal breaker, move on.
I hope the OP has a great hunt.

If you will, post the Auction Deal that is on the table.

This outfit is legit in that they offer and run hunts and have for years. As others have noted, they have been able to stay in business because they aren't giving stuff away for free. Figure out the math for your personal situation.

And start hitting the "search button". You'll find more info on your other questions than you could read in a week :)

My advice would be, if you plan on going as one of the 4 members of the hunt I would get a copy of the hunt details that was provided to DU from Kuche Safaris. You need to make yourself familiar with the details of the hunt and I'd take a copy with me. I've never hunted with Kuche Safaris so I can't speak to their operation at all the reviews I've read have been positive.

Things to pay attention to on the hunt details would be if any animals or $$$ credits are given for trophy fees, how many days are included, if transports to and from the airport are included or cost extra, daily fee if any additional days are added, and most importantly get a price list from the outfitter for any animals you wish to add to your hunt. In some instances I've seen the trophy fees for additional animals is higher than their trophy fees if you're not on a donation hunt.

Just curious, why do you have to send money to the outfitter, I understood that your buddy already bought the hunt? Is it for extra animals and incidentals? I’ve done One auction hunt and would not hesitate to try another, everything went better than I could have expected. I added 2 days and 4 extra animals and they didn’t charge me for the extra days or 1 of the extra animals. This was in the middle of the Covid pandemic and all but 4 or 5 of his safaris cancelled so they may have just been grateful my wife and I showed up!

Again I will say Koos runs a family business' and will treat you fairly. PM me and I will tell
you how our hunt went and how Koos went above and beyond to make it a great hunt!
By the way Koos is pronounced kwis

We’ll be hunting with him too as I purchased the DU banquet auction package. I have several different positive reviews of him and their hunts and also met him and his son at this year’s Houston Safari Club show. Great guys and I expect they’ll be great to hunt with, I can’t wait!

He provides reams of info on website and the email you should’ve gotten through DU. He patiently answered my many questions via WHatsApp and over the phone prior to my meeting him this last month. So, in summary, don’t worry, be happy…and he’ll treat you fair and right.

Hunted with them in 2021. Great family outfit and they work hard. Ours was also a du hunt and we added animals while we were there. 3-4 other groups in camp but no issues with crowding and never hunted around any of the others. We did have our skins and horns shipped here to let a taxidermist in the states finish them. Communication was great from the start and until our trophies arrived in the U.S.

Hello, my name is Dylan, I’m 24 and new to the African hunting world. Haven’t gave it much thought ever till a friend called and said he bought a trip for 4 at a DU banquet.

The trip he got is with Kuche Safaris in South Africa. My questions are this..
- Has anyone heard of bad experiences with the Ducks Unlimited auction hunts or have any experience with these hunts? A friend who has been to Africa said to be cautious cuz he hasn’t always heard good things about auction hunts.
- Have any of you hunted an auction or giveaway hunt with Kuche Safaris? I haven’t really found anything bad about them other than a review on TripAdvisor from a fellow who bought the DU auction hunt as well and couldn’t get ahold of Kuche.
- What tips do you have for us before we put our money down for the hunt?
- I have read on here that their taxidermy can be hit or miss. Would you recommend bringing everything back to be mounted here in the States? And if so, is there any rough estimate you could give for what shipping costs?
- This is just the tip of the iceberg with all this but figured it’s best to start getting it all straightened out right away. Any other tips would be extremely helpful.

thank you for taking the time to read this,
God bless and Good Hunting!
This was my first and most successful hunting experience. Now, I recommend this place to everyone.

I have no experience with auction hunts and have only been on one safari, however one thing I can tell you for sure no matter what you decide to do, EXTEND YOUR TIME there! Whether it's with the outfitter or you leave there to go on a photo safari or just book a week someplace like Cape Town, do it! I was there for 10 days and it simply was not enough. It's going to be about 2 days travel on either end of the trip so make it worth it by staying 2-3 weeks if you can, you won't regret it!

They seem to rely on an inexperienced clientele. Anyone looking this outfit needs to use the search function. There are some very legitimate complaints about this place along with some inherent flaws in their system.

Kuche Safaris is apparently connected with JD Outfitters, a gun dealer in Edmond, OK. JD Outfitters has lots of gun ads on GB and Gunsinternational. I recall reading a hunt report where AH members bought a rifle and did the hunt with Kuche.

FREE AFRICAN SAFARI WITH KUCHE SAFARIS :) KUCHE.CO.ZA) INCLUDED WITH THIS RIFLE! SAFARI IS FOR 1-HUNTER / 5-DAYS / 3-ANIMALS (IMPALA, BLESBUCK, WARTHOG). SAFARI IS CUSTOMIZABLE WITH ADDITIONAL DAYS AND ANIMALS AVAILABLE. THE CERTIFICATE IS GOOD FOR 3-YEARS FROM DATE OF PURCHASE AND WILL BE EMAILED TO YOU. NOTE: THE SAFARI IS FREE AND DOES NOT ADD ANY COST TO THE RIFLE.

However, you might be right... perhaps we're still paying for advertising.

I bought a rifle from JD Outfitters and went on my safari with Kuche this August. Posted a hunt report here.
I had a great time and recommend Kuche and JD Outfitters.

P.S. I adore excitement and thrills. However, I couldn't bring myself to play poker for a long time because I didn't trust unknown websites. But my colleague suggested a very good resource, сlearly explained Casino Payment Methods where there are reviews of all casinos and games. And since my colleague is very successful, I finally trusted this resource and managed to find a great platform for playing, where I also found like-minded individuals.

After conducting a survey among friends and colleagues regarding Kuche Safaris in South Africa, opinions truly vary. However, it seems I may have acted as an 'inexperienced clientele' because I acted without thoroughly researching the matter. I retract my recommendations and apologize for any inconvenience.

Andrew, I believe you said you had a great experience. Has anything changed with regards to your experience?

The experience was good for me at that time, I have no regrets whatsoever. However, my opinion regarding 'recommendation' has changed. I don't want to recommend this place now because the reviews vary greatly.

Opinions are like … everyone has one. The first person reviews are overwhelmingly positive and detailed on why they’re positive. The negatives ones come from one of two reasons, there are multiple groups in camp (although no one has said that translated to the field, they’ve had the hunting to themselves) or from those that are against the style of hunting this is, large concessions that are mostly high fenced, that are managed herds, many animals harvested, and not free range. Those are the generally Africa purists that want a different experience, which is absolutely their right. Koos and Kuche are upfront and very open about the hunting hunting experience you can expect and from most first person reviews they over deliver.

I’ve had several positive reviews from people I trust, many credible posters on here who gave detailed accounts on their firsthand experiences. Again, MOST all of those speaking against them did not hunt with them or have firsthand knowledge. A couple that did have had some complaints, see my opening sentence above. Find me a big trip/experience that doesn’t have some complaints. Many in our world nowadays are professionals at that.

I’m hunting with Kuche in ‘25, have met and talked with Koos extensively several times, know exactly what I’m getting, and can’t wait for the experience. And I’m bringing some of my friends and we’ll have non-hunting family as well. I’ll write a hunt report and add my opinion (that is like …) at that time to the pile of evidence. And I fully expect it’ll be positive because I’ve read too many detailed accounts that are.

felt support in your words. I'm very unsure of myself... constantly hesitant, especially when interacting with people.
Thanks

I realize how hard the bug has bit. I’m on the cusp of safari #2 and I’m looking to plan #3 with my 11 year old a year from now while looking at my work schedule for overtime and computing the math of how many shifts are needed….

I'd like to get some too.

My wife (a biologist, like me) had to have a melanoma removed from her arm last fall.

Hallo Marius- do you have possibilities for stags in September during the roar? Where are your hunting areas in Romania?
