Welcome to AH. Would love to see hunting return to Angola.
Hunting in Angola will be possible this year, the hunt was closed during 20 years, but finally the government understood hunting and conservation walk together

Welcome, I was in your beautiful country only the southern side on the coast for a fishing expedition in 2006. That is only a small part of the country I hope that hunting is progressing again in Angola.
Will love to hear more.
Soon it will be possible to hunt again in Angola

Macuta, you are very welcome..please educate us about the availability of hunting in Angola..?
This year hunting will be possible for locals, next year it will be possible for foreigners, the movement for outfitters and concessions had start.

Welcome to the forum!
But keep in mind, we can learn a lot from you!
Since Angola closed for international hunting, we lost any idea how to get to hunting to Angola! We would appreciate any information from your side about this, and if there are any options for foreign hunter to hunt there!
Next year foreigners will be able to hunt in Angola, as a country we at nort we have the Forest of Congo at south we ave the kalaari desert, and all the rivers from the Okavango Delta born in Angola, the country with more water in all Austral Africa, so you can imagine all the species existing in Angola, a few just exist in Angola, CITIES surveys will start to determine what can be hunt and the Quotas

Your profile is intriguing. Quite a lot of experience hunting various African countries and the species indicates Europe as well. Are you a lodge operator?
No I am just a hunter who was born in Angola, but half of my life it’s lived, in Portugal so I also hunt wild boar red deer mouflon partridges follow deer roe deer ibex in Europe and others

Nobody knows, afther 40 years of war and 20 years of hunting prohibition, surveys are fundamental, we know for example elefantes are coming back to their natural routes and are living Botswana, and coming to Kuando Kuvango south of Angola, and we also know poaching is huge in all rural communities, the Giant Sable in 2011 the heard was less than 100 animals today we have 600, tree have lot to to to form and to invest

Six hundred giant sable! That is good news. Just three years ago I was reading they thought the species might be extinct. The misguided girl at my brokerage firm here thought my South African sable trophy was CITES banned. I had to do her homework for her and found she was confusing it with giant sable of Angola.

Off topic, is the fishing still good at Kwanza Lodge in the river?

Hello and welcome!

Welcome to AH @Macuta

Please keep us informed of progress on the animal surveys and hunting opportunities in Angola! I would love the opportunity to hunt there sometime in the next few years;)

There is a book called “A Certain Curve of Horn” that covers the plight of the giant sable before and during the war. It is a good broad stroke of information about the civil war and wildlife during that time. I learned more about Angola from that book than from the internet!

Welcome Macuta
I will enjoy learning from You and Your Country

Great News about hunting starting again!!!

I have no idea the shipping cost from here to Costa Rica. I can do my research on shipping and get back with you later today.

I didn't see your request re: ship co’s. My last shipment was 2023. Quotes from SBS Logistics ($1,198), Badger Cargo ($1,184 - used them) & AHG Trophy Shippers ($1,746). AHG owner's an asshole so wouldn't have used him anyway. Eastern Cape - Houston, TX, so your mileage may vary. NEVER use Karl Human Taxidermy aka Wild Africa Taxidermy on Eastern Cape. Trophies arrived shattered with no padding/packing material.
