I joined this group today as I have finally booked my first hunt in Africa for Buffalo. I went on several photo 'safaris' with my Dad in the 80's and grew up reading many of the African hunting books in his huge collection. I have dreamt of a hunt there since those days. I am very interested to try to learn as much as I can from the experience of others about preparing for this hunt. I have a Winchester Model 70 in .375HH and the allure of a double rifle was too much for me to resist so I recently bought a .470NE Sabatti EDL. I'm very happy with my Winchester but not sure I made the right choice with the Sabatti for a couple reason that I hope to get some feedback on. I look forward to learning what I can....

East River or West River?

Hello friend. I live 31 miles east of South Dakota in MN. I wish I lived in SD for many reasons. I can give you some experience travelling from SD to Africa and back. Contact Travel express and Rifle Permits. That will solve 80% of your travel experience, your outfitter should handle the rest.

You have more than enough rifles for a great hunt.

:S Welcome: You will fit right in around around here...

Who is your outfitter?

Where do you plan on flying out of ?

I think Sioux Falls
I was there 2 weeks ago. Went great, stayed at the Aerostay on the way back. Nice airport and attached motel. United did us a fine job from Sioux falls to Jo Berg and back. Travel Express can help you.

Welcome to AH. Congratulations on booking your buffalo hunt. Only problem is, those big black critters are addicting… As is Africa in general.
Sounds like you’re good for guns, however, if you’re not confident in your Sabatti, your .375 will do it all.

Welcome! Certainly glad to have you here with the rest of us!

Welcome to AH.

On the advice of a friend I contacted Buzz Charlton of CM Safaris and he set us up with a hunt in Mozambique 'Coutada 9'
Excellent! :D Beers: One of the best
