I took the Mark X action and a barrel chambered for 300 Wby to the gunsmith to be seated. The gunsmith is just starting out and doesn't have a lot of equipment. He said he didn't have go/no go gauges for the 300 Wby yet so would need to either rent/buy a set in order to install the barrel.

I have read that what's needed to install virtually any of the belted magnums are the same gauge- headspacing on the belt. Is this correct that he can use a set of "belt" gauges rather than full cartridge ones?

yes they headspace on the belt.
same as 375 & 300 h&h, 300 win, 7mmrem, etc.
when you reload the brass you should then adjust the fls die to use the shoulder for headspace.

Hi Lance, Hope you well. I collect Mauser rifles and they are very much part of my cultural history in Africa. Would you consider selling the rifle now a year on ? I'd like to place it in my collection of Mauser rifles. Many thx

I saw where you hunted elephant with backcountry safaris in Zimbabwe.
Was looking to book an elephant hunt and wanted to know how your hunt went
and if you would recommend them.

Thanks
Mike
hi, do you know about lions hunters, leopard hunters, and crocodiles hunters of years 1930s-1950s
I'm new to Africa Hunting. I would like to purchase a Heym 450-400 double rifle. I'm left-handed but would prefer a non-canted gun. Is anyone in the community considering parting with theirs?
