Hi All!

I have a Savage Rifle in 375h&h that I want something’s done to it. Like cutting off the muzzle break, bolt jeweling, and trigger work. Does anyone have a recommendation for a gunsmith? I am in Florida and not opposed to shipping. Thanks all.

In my experience the very best is JJ Perodeau in Enid OK. You can google him then give him a phone call to discuss.

Not really his sort of work. He is more a double shotgun/rifle and classic bolt action specialist.

@Rem280 I am sure you can find a competent local guy to do this sort of thing.

Fair point…I just have had such awesome results with him on my 5 DRs. But they have all been DRs not bolt actions

Try Kampfeld customs of Sand Point Idaho.

He does magic with Remington 700s

JEWELLING THE BOLT? Not my deal, but seems like money spent without a functional result.

I usually use John McLaughlin in Helena, Montana for my rifle work... very good metal smith. I have other people who specialize in double guns.

The sort of work the OP is talking about can be done by any competent smith that has typical tools… you definitely don’t need a specialist for a barrel cut and crown, some jeweling, and trigger job… those are basic, fundamental skills….

Just check out some google reviews and make sure you’re not dropping your rifle off at a hack job shop and you should be fine… I’d guess between Jacksonville, Miami, Tampa, Orlando, etc there are a dozen or more smiths that have done these same tasks dozens of times on a Savage…
