Guess that cartridge

Give the man a cigar! 950 JDJ it is. As unrealistic of a sporting cartridge it is, they sure are cool!

Is that the goofy thing based on the shortened 20mm case? IIRC I read about it some years ago and threw up my hands. Have no idea what it's called.

Sorry, hit the enter button a little late.

You'd be right Drhall. It's the 7.92x94 Patronen; 225gr at 4000fps. I would imagine penetration on game would be adequate ;)

The 7.92x107 is interesting also.

I would imagine it would be fairly flat shooting as well. Good bean field gun.

I believe one of the other experiments involved a squeeze bore arrangement of some kind.

It's basically a smokeless, rimless, 4-bore (near as damn it). I've toyed with the idea myself but I don't need that kind of power. I would like that kind of bore size though!

Anothe odd one

Hard to tell without scale. I'm going to guess it is some sort of wildcat pistol cartridge but beyond that???

It is indeed. Here is one next to a 357 Magnum

Would that be the .500 Wyoming Express cartridge?

Ding ding ding! Give that man a point!

Thought it may take longer for someone to get it but then again it is a little distinctive with that belt.

Yep, the belt was the giveaway.......

Unusual cartridge really. Fills a need that didn't really exist in my opinion.

Annnnnnd another :) obviously nothing to establish scale with here but they're all big...

The one with the long neck is a .577/700 Westley Richards or it might be .700/.577 WR. Always confused me. The one on the far right is probably near .700 and beats me about the one on the left. Probably a something .700 as all the basic case look the same to me.

You're close enough. Far right is 700 nitro, left is 577 Sahar (700/577), middle is 500 Rafiki (700/500).
All but the 700 Nitro were indeed created by WR.

I didn't know they were all WR. I'll add that to my base.

The 500 Rafiki is potent like, 570gr at 2420fps is very impressive.

Found the Municion reference to it. Impressive Ballistics. Wonder what the recoil figures are on a DR.

thanks for your reply bob , is it feasible to build a 444 on a P14/M17 , or is the no4 enfield easier to build? i know where i can buy a lothar walther barrel in 44, 1-38 twist , but i think with a barrel crown of .650" the profile is too light .
