Hi everyone.
I want to download a GPS app on mi iPhone and I don't know which one to choose.
What is your favorite GPS app?

Maybe your mobile is better than mine.
Given the performance I get out of my mobile phone on occasion, I do not trust them to save my a$$ in the bush anywhere.
Lovely for finding the nearest store, but not where it really matters.

So, this is the tool.

I use Avenza Maps, in addition to all the free and payable maps available you can scan and upload your own paper maps and the app let's you calibrate them for use with GPS. The app is available for free from the Apple store.

What do you want to use it for? Driving directions offline, tracking where you hike on your safari, etc. ?

I don't use my phone for GPS per se. If I am navigating where I have a signal, then google maps handles those chores pretty effectively. However, there are places on this planet (lots of them) where an iphone becomes just a camera. For hunting I would get the dedicated satellite receiver like that @BRICKBURN suggests.

Gaia gps is very good. I use it on my phone. It works when there is no cell signal coverage, if you are tracking routes however it is very power hungry. I generally track roads when I go to a new area, once that it all done then I only use it when walking if it’s absolutely necessary.
To save on the battery life I plot points when needed rather than use the tracking function.

It is getting easier to use a phone and the apps available to limit the amount of gear needed when hunting/hiking etc. I always have a garmin gps in the car but seldom take it with nowadays as it is just another item to carry around and look after.

I agree with PeteG. Gaia gps is a great tracking app. I used it in Zim with no cell signal and it gave me some great maps, distance, etc. It was also awesome to get a general direction to return back to the truck. For driving without cell signal I used an app called Be-on-road. It would let me download maps to my phone for use off-line. Unfortunately, the app is no longer available on the app store, not sure why but there must me another one. At least with in iphone, without cell service it can still function as a GPS device. you just have to download the info to the phone prior to losing service.

I learned something new - Thanks!

In the U.S. I use OnX Hunt. Great app. Not sure if it works internationally. I bet someone here can answer that.

I’ve never used Gaia. Looking that up now.

The app works but only gives you sat image map, without topographic features, property lines, public land info etc., it seems that this data is limited to USA only.

I used OnX in Namibia last year. Worked great. Downloaded the satellite imagery before I left. Was able to keep track off where we went, where I shot different animals etc. not necessary, but fun. @Opposite Pole is correct that you will not have topography or land ownership, but to me that didn't matter much.

Many app who use GPS only switch on the GPS when you actually use it, which gives low accuracy. They also often give preference to the mobile network to estimate location, which is also less accurate. I've used 'GPS connected' to force the GPS of the phone (android) to be on, and then switch off the mobile network (airplane mode). Works as good as a regular GPS (but battery life on regular GPS is better).

Just wanted to say thanks for the excellent customer service. Ordered some 9.3x62 brass and the delivery was a little short. An email through your website Contact Us link was replied to the next day with the tracking info for the correction. Good pricing coupled with great customer service will see returning customers every time. Thanks again!

I am righthanded, so not interested in the rifle, but I have a 375 RUM and 350 gr bullet loading data is very hard to come by. If you could reply with information regarding your loads I would greatly appreciate it. Thank you, Ray Boone, Leavenworth, WA
