Mike, John, and I set pots yesterday. 20 knots of Offshore wind. 100’ of water. 6 miles off the lighthouse. Set 12 pots. Baited with fish heads and squid. Normally we would catch sand dabs while they soaked for a few hours. Too much wind.

Went out this morning at 7:00am. Made 25 Knots cruising out with an offshore breeze. About 10 knots of wind. About a 9 crab per pot average.

Kept limits of jumbos!

Paul

It’s great to finally be able to use regular pots! Been a pretty epic season for sport crabbing this year.

Big dinner with friends and family 6 of us... Appetizers: Prosciutto, Hot Coppa, Salami, assortment of olives, cheeses, pickles, peppers, Fresh sourdough,

Caesar Salad, and drawn butter with fresh garlic and the crab of course was sweet, delicate, and delicious! Good times.

Jealous!!
Curiosity killed the cat question.
You mentioned sand abs, how do you cook them and how big do they get? I used them a blue moon ago as ling cod bait.

Very similar to Petrale sole…

1. Melt 2 tablespoons of butter in a large frying pan over medium heat.

2. Dip each fish in milk, then in flour; season with salt and pepper.

3. Carefully ease fish into pan and fry over medium heat for about 3 minutes per side. Transfer fillets to a warmed platter.

4. Melt remaining butter in a small skillet; add capers and quickly heat through. Pour over fish, squeese lemon over dish and serve immediately.

We use them for ling cod bait too. Or crab bait, and eat the bigger ones…

Hi PaulB. Would you be interested in another WJ Jeffery .450/.400 NE 3". It's an extractor model and in superb condition, cased as well. Made in 1908. The rifle is here in Texas.
