Daughter and I have our first African trip planned for 2019. Looking for ideas for a full size lion mount. We have two house cats so wanting to put it up on a wall. Anyone have any ideas or pictures?

FYI, are you aware of the current import restrictions on Lions into the USA?

I've seen some great looking mounts of mountain cats on rocks or some other diorama. I'll bet a lion would look just as pretty

Great idea! I prefer mine on the wall as well

Some ideas I've been looking at for a wall mount on my latest lion. But also keen on more ideas, i am undecided still...

2years ago there was a mount at DSC convention of a lion jumping, it gets hooked on the wall on its side by the stomach.... cant find the pic, if anyone has it please post it. Think the taxidermy was Splitting image taxidermy

I like them all.

Dennis Harris has one on the taxidermy picture link jumping on a zebra--that jumping pose would be awesome coming off the wall..

Hopefully it will change. We have a lot of lion available

I hope its in time before new legislation passes in SA, because that is going to push up the lion price to ridiculous heights.

Can you explain why?

Regulations for lion areas are changing a lot, which will cost the areas a few million to get up to the new standard. Also the new regulation will force a lion area to hunt a max of probably 10-15 lions per year, where they used to hunt a lot more.

So to cover cost of upgrading to new regulations, as well as still having it worth while, the number of lions available to hunt will have to cover the cost of all the other lions that cant be hunted anymore to keep an area operational, and that will make a lion a lot more expensive, and would also need to book it way in advance if you want one as the supply would be very low to the hunting market, even though theres a lot of lion.

Hope it makes sense..

I just saw Budsgunshop.com has both the guide gun and the African for $1150. FWIW - I bought both and decided to use the Guide gun - I restocked it in a Bell and Carlson stock and I added the Alaska arms floor plate to add a round. I wanted the shorter barrel as I will use a suppressor. I wont go lower than $1100, but I will ship it and no sales tax.

Let me know if you are interested
