BiancaM, I see the rifle is a 10.75 but there is another number that comes after the "X". What is it?

BiancaM, with an octagon barrel and old style sling swivels this gun might be more valuable than you think. Have you asked a gunsmith for his thoughts and or evaluation?

Hi Shootist43, thank you so much for your message. I have not taken it for an evaluation yet. Looked at the averages of prices and just went with that. I will ask a gunsmith, maybe he can give me a more accurate evaluation. Thank you for the suggestion. The fact that I dont hunt big game, I thought it would be more valuable for someone who enjoys that type of hunting.

I have done a bit of investigation and it seems to be a 10.75 x 68mm (unfortunately, they forgot to add this to my licence description) I had a 9.3 Mauser and that was a 62mm. This was also too big of a rifle for what I enjoy hunting.

What text is engraved on the barrel?
I seriously doubt that it is a Oberndorf Mauser rifle. But perhaps rather a custom of sorts.

I'm unfortunately on a diet. Presently in VA hospital as Agent Orange finally caught up with me. Cancer and I no longer can speak. If all goes well I'll be out of here and back home in Thailand by end of July. Tough road but I'm a tough old guy. I'll make it that hunt.

Nice one there. I guided for mulies and elk for about 10 or so years in northern New Mexico.

Business is the only way to fly. I'm headed to SA August 25. I'm hoping that business isn't an arm and a leg. If you don't mind, what airline and the cost for your trip. Mine will be convoluted. I'll be flying into the states to pick up my 416 Rigby as Thailand doesn't allow firearms (pay no attention to the daily shootings and killings) so I'll have 2 very long trips.
