Finally found one of the Rarest A-SQUARE Hannibal Rifles

I am always searching for Vintage Original A-Square rifles. I finally found one of rarest calibers. Very few were made in 458 Win Mag caliber.

458 Win Mag is one of my favorite calibers. This A-SQUARE is the 8th 458 Win Mag caliber rifle in my collection.

I have personally shot the A square in .470 Capstick that was made for Peter. It is a hand full and one of if not the most brutal weapon I have ever fired. I would think the .458 would be a creampuff to shoot.

I have owned several A-Square rifles including 577 T-Rex cal. 416 Rigby, 470 Capstick, 425 Express, 416 Hoffman, 500 A-Square, and 338 A-Square Magnum. Only the 577 T-Rex was brutal. All the others with their Coil-Check stocks were much more manageable than those in the same caliber by other manufacturers with conventional stocks.

I have a dozen .458 WIN MAG rifles, nice number to resist turning into a baker's dozen.

I would have fourteen if not for the re-chamberings to .458 Lott and .458/.416 Ruger, those two being no slouches since they have residual throats from the .458 WIN MAG chambers with no setback.

I keep a tight-throated SAAMI .458 Lott Ruger RSM Gen III around just for laughs.

When loaded my A-Square weighs a bit over 12 pounds. Heavy! ..... But very comfortable to shoot. I only have 8 rifles in 458 Win Mag, but I also have several others that shoot .458 bullets. (458 Lott, 450 Ackley Mag, 450 Buhmiller Mag, 450 Watts, 460 Wby Mag) So that makes a baker's dozen in 458s. A field test of the A-Square will follow.

Its actually a "Coil-Chek" stock. Its a special stock design that Art designed with the advice of several experts in Anatomy. I also have 7 rifles in 416 Rigby caliber. One is an A-Square. The A-Square has 1/2 the felt recoil of all the others.

I am seriously covetous of your .450 Watts Magnum and .450 Buhmiller Magnum rifles.
You have me beat on on quality but I still have you on quantity.
Add these eleven more to my dozen .458 WIN MAGs:

2 .45-70 Elko Magnums
1 .450 NE
1 .458/.416 Ruger
1 .458 B&M
1 .450 Barnes Supreme
1 .458/.338 Lapua Magnum
1 .450 Dakota
1 .458 SOCOM
Total = 23
Now, do we get to count .45-70 Gov't. too ?
That is my second favorite chambering that fires .458-caliber bullets.

I had an a2 built in 460wby in 1989. I went and got fitted for it, 15 length of pull with up graded wood with different sights. It was the easiest recoiling big bore I have ever owned.
