I have finally booked my first safari. August of 2027 with BGHA/Kok and Seyffert.
I’ll be hunting Limpopo and the Free State for 10 days with Cape Buffalo, Waterbuck, Springbok and Warthog on my booking list. My hunting partner is going for Kudu, Springbok and Black Wildebeest.
I’ll keep this thread updated as time goes on, and as always any advice is welcome.
Thanks to all the members of AH for the discussions and stories, and hopefully I can contribute some first person experience to someone in my shoes in the next few years.

Awesome! There is nothing like that first safari and we are all jealous of you. Check out the Safari planning section here as well as my YouTube videos on planning your great adventure.

Live Test 1: 458 win mag No.1 with RMR at 45 yards off sticks. Pulled left, so more practice is needed but overall feel comfortable on sticks. And I’m always appreciative to get meat in the freezer

You’re lucky you dropped that thing with such a little rifle……..

JK. Great start! During your trip, make some notes about what happens each day. Memories fade pretty quickly, unfortunately. Take a bunch of photos too! Then, on rainy days when you want to be back in Africa, revisit the trip. :)

Was already planning on the journal, but completely forgot about a camera. Thanks for the tip!

May have pulled it a little, but as they say in Africa, “it’s in the salt.”

Very exciting. Hope you have a great time (and a safe one.)

I’m currently doing the same thing with my .375H&H, after several pigs and deer I’m much more confident with the rifle.

Jerome, do you think my last post in rough camping must maybe shift as an article?

Good afternoon,

I'm trying to get in contact with Mr Butch Searcy. I have the opportunity to buy one of his rifles chambered in 577 nitro Express however the seller does not have any of the paperwork with the information about what ammunition or bullet weight was used to regulate it. I know he is not making firearms anymore but I wanted to reach out after seeing one of your post about him.

Hi - the only (best) method of sending you the .375/06IMP data is with photographing my book notes. My camera died so the only way I can do it is with my phone. To do that, I would need your e-mail address, as this
new Android phone is too complicated to upload to my desk computer, which would be easier and to down-grade, reduce the file sizes.
Best wishes
Daryl
