I had ordered a new Double Rifle from Heym about one and half years ago, and have been advised it now been finished and ready to go.
Originally, when I had ordered the gun i sopke with Heym and we agreed i could pick it up at the factory when completed and travel back to Tanzania, where i live with the said firearm.

Now i was advised by the comany they use for export that they need to shipit to me as freight and that is something i wanted to avoid. Aparently it is something to do with the customs exit/export stamp, which they say they can only get when the gun is sent as freight and not checked luggage. I really don't see that it would make a difference as when I check a firearm I'm sure customs would stamp the export documents at the airport.

I wanted to reach out to members in case anyone is able to help put me in touch with the right people who could organse to get the relevant export permits in Germany so I can travel back to TZ with the gun as checked luggage.
Any help or suggestions appreciated.

There is a thread on “The Stalking Directory “ about this. Apparently firearms export in Germany is a little complicated and with the amount of hardware going to the Ukraine a big backlog. Sorry I can’t be more help.

I would not be surprised. I was involved in trying to get just a barrel out of the US. It seemed impossible for me to transport it to the airport. And I bet here in Denmark you can't do it either: for anybody to take posession of a weapon, the seller need to see a weapon permit, and that is only for Danes to obtain (takes some months) - basically you would be illegally in possession of a weapon. And when using a shipping company for the barrel from Norway they were turned back at the border to Sweden because there was no import permit to Sweden (for transit). So I would imagine it would be more or less similar (impossible) in Germany.

Germany has one of the strongest firearms laws in Europe. It's not just about customs, but also that the rifle will definitely leave the country and end up in the hands of those who are authorized to purchase it. Heym knows why the rifle has to be shipped like that. Bypassing the official way will not be achieved through the legal route. When it comes to sending weapons from or to Germany, many of us use the services of gunmakers or companies specialized for this. Unfortunately it costs something extra.

Exporting firearms from Germany within the EU seems to be quite straightforward, I have done it several times, including one time from Heym. But I guess that it is much more complicated when outside the EU, no experience on that part unfortunately.

Since the central register for weapons came into being in the EU, it is no longer so easy between the EU countries. These registers are not yet interconnected. In Germany the registration of weapons has been completed, but France for example it is still in progress.

Hey Steve, This is Steve Washington we met at KMG last year. I am interested in your Winchester. Would love to speak with you about it. I work third shift and I cannot take a phone with me to work. Let me know a good time to call during one of your mornings. My phone is 239 565-8988. Live in Florida so I have to account for the time difference.
Look forward to hearing from you.

Good day, Slider.

Do you by any chance have any 500NE brass left that you are willing to part ways with?

Best regards,
