Hi All. I was reading the thread on this forum titled "Farquharson 450/400" and saw the links provided for the New Zealand firm, Soroka Rifles, that had been making a Farquharson, but with coil springs and an internal redesign to reduce the risk of broken springs and firing pins. Best I can tell from using the wayback machine is that their website went dormant in the first half of 2021. Anyone know what did them in? Seemed like a great rifle, albeit at a high price (roughly a $10K premium to a Dakota Model 10 and a $16K premium to the old Ruger No1.)

(I'm referring to sorokarifles.com)

Thanks,
Chris

I know the guy Glen Sharon who later changed his name to Soroka who had a hand in making these, even helped with some ideas myself, not all taken up but some went towards the firing mechanism.

Looked very nice & had some excellent marketing & photos !

That’s all I have to say on an open public forum !!

On the Facebook page for Piper Rifles in Arizona, they mention that they make Soroka rifles. There's also a SOLD listing on Guns International that has an American-made Soroka 07 by the Piper Rifle Co.

What that means, I don't know. It is just some clues that Google produced.

Those rifles were (are?) awesome. I followed them when they were communicating on the web. Achingly elegant rifle that seemed to be made with great skill. Wanted one, but the price was a little high for me. I expect that was the case for many potential buyers. Just guessing.

When Glen was in the development stage of his rifle he promoted it quite heavily and we sparred a bit over its superiority over the classic falling block rifles of the golden age.
Now, seeing what the British industry is up to, I regret giving him so much crap over it.
They aren’t exactly my kettle of fish, but they are still pretty damn nice rifles.

Hello! I saw your post from last year about a missing crate from your hunt in Moz. I am curious how that all turned out? We (my fiancé and I) also hunted in Moz in 2024 and the trophies are being shipped with Hunters Services Limitada. We have some concerns on whether we will get the trophies home or not. May I ask who you hunted with?
