SCI wants to know if you recently received a letter from the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service concerning a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request submitted to the FWS’s Office of Law Enforcement. The letter informs recipients that an individual or organization has made an official request for information about imports, exports and seizures of trophies and explains that the FWS plans to release that information. You would have received the letter because you submitted information to the FWS that is covered by the FOIA request. The letter explains that, if the recipient wishes to object to the disclosure of information, he or she must send a written response to the FWS by a date certain.

If you recently received such a letter, please contact SCI as soon as possible by emailing Anna Seidman, at aseidman@safariclub.org. Describe the letter in as much detail as possible or, if possible, scan the letter and send it. Thank you.

Can anyone explain to me how an unrelated party can make an application to a government body and acquire personal/private/confidential information?
(I assume this request is seeking much further information than a simple statistic.)

Has your government lost it's bloody mind?
