Hi folks just wondered if anybody has used the above recoil reducer? I would go for an Edwards but im not too sure if I can get them in the UK. Its to go in my 416 double any suggestions or tips are always welcome.

Many thanks in advance

I put one in a light 35 whelen with a leupold scope on it that touched my nose every time I fired from the bench.
Noticeable difference that made the problem go away.
Installed a similar but different brand in my 375 before i ever fired it the first time. The 16 oz weight alone makes a difference regardless of the mercury motion in it.

All of those reducers are just weight for the most part. Yes they all work but so did my dad putting lead shot in the buttstock of some of his guns.
I have the Blasers kickstop which is tungsten beads. It makes the gun so heavy. All my other guns have Edward’s which I swear by. Order online I’m sure it can go to UK. Email Kevin and ask him to ship to you. They are cheap enough to try both!

I’d love to hear your opinion as I seem to be the Lone Ranger. Don’t forget that the Edward’s tunes itself over time so it gets better with use. I know it all sounds like voodoo but it simply works!

I have sent them an email I'll wait till the end of the week to see what they say. I have seen the vid of you using your 375 whit one fitted ans there is hardly and muzzle flip

You might want to consider an evo pad shoulder pad. Rather than a rubber or foam shoulder insert, it's hard plastic molded to your shoulder. The plastic distributes the recoil over a much great space. I found it highly effective at making the recoil on my 470 manageable. Now its actually fun to shoot my double.

My double does sport a Silvers pad. I have to admit its as hard as a rock maybe changing that our might help some

We've had 2 mercury recoil reducers made by Graco BreaKO.
I had a 14oz in the buttstock of my CZ550 375H&H.
Wife had a 12oz in the buttstock of her Lady Hunter 270WIN.
Having them gave us both the confidence to shoot larger calibers.
Both rifles were sold and the reducers went with them.

Now we each have Blaser R8's and both have the kickstop added.
They are tungsten beads in a stainless tube in the buttstock.
Yes, it's heavy...but we deal with heavy better than recoil.
She's shooting a 375H&H and I'm on a 416RM.

Im wondering if a copper tube filled with lead would do the same thing? Its adding weight I suppose. Still no reply from Edwards

I've heard of people putting lead in the forend of the stock, under the barrel.
I suppose a copper pipe filled with lead in the butt stock would do the same.
Just make sure the balance is right for you.

I believe most people want it to balance between the hands.
All of our rifles have balanced at the magazine after adding the weight.
They feel right to us, but everyone has their own preference.

Just made this. 10oz on the nose. Just need to load up some more ammo and test it out

Its been awhile, but for the bolt hole on O/U skeet guns I have simply poured in lead shot, packed the remaining space with egg carton material and replaced the recoil pad.

Put one in a shotgun butt once- can't remember brand but well known. Not the Dead Mule brand but I think comparable. Couldn't tell much difference but it did add a little weight... in the wrong place. Usually IMO better to start with a slightly heavier rifle and/or barrel to begin with and use a good range pad when on the bench. Not necessarily a thick soft pad either. If it's too soft/thick it just lets the butt get a running start at you shoulder... instead of push. Plus a thick pad throws off correct shooting form and fit by possibly increasing length of pull too much. Better to use a larger, thinner-stiffer pad to distribute recoil over a larger surface area of the shoulder.

An excellent AH member right here! I had a fantastic transaction with Hornedfrogbbq (I was the seller). His communication was first rate, payment was extremely fast, and I would have absolutely no reservations at all dealing with him again. Thank you, F!
Here we are, the last day of the show in Denver, it's been a good show but expecting a quiet day today. I will be back for-sure to do this show next year and maybe also do the one in Sacramento California.

On Monday I will be hitting the road driving from Denver and eventually make it down to Atlanta for the flight home.

its going to be a good year!

Hi Rem280, Saw your post on getting selected for Idaho Elk. Do you have a zone(s) selected? I live in N Idaho, might be able to offer some ideas.

Cheers,

Craig
