Current DG Battery. Please Share Yours

This is my present African DG battery. It has changed over the past couple of years. Since joining AH, you people have cost me a lot of money on African hunts and DG rifles!

Please feel free to share your DG rifle(s). I’m always keenly interested in what other AH members have and I know some are always selling and buying new rifles!

Here are my current DG rifles. I believe this is it unless someday there’s a double rifle in my future?

From bottom to top:

1. Heym Martini Express 416 Rigby 24 inch barrel, Leupold Patrol 6HD 1-6x24mm FireDot.
2. Custom Pre 64 Winchester M70 416 Rem Mag 22 inch barrel, Leupold 1.5x5 Vari XIII.
3. CZ 550 Safari Magnum 416 Rigby. 24.5” brl. SA with Leupold 1.5x5.
4. Custom Robar/AHR Brno ZKK-602 458 Lott, 22” brl, McMillian synthetic stock, Nikon African 1-4.
5. Winchester M70 Stainless Classic, 375 H&H, 22” brl, H&S Precision stock, Leupold 1.5x5 Vari XIII.

All have either Talley QD, Warne QD or Leupold QD rings/mounts. The #3 CZ 416 Rigby will be going to my outfitter in SA along with a Leupold 1.5x5 and Warne rings, it will become a camp rifle. All rifles sighted in dead on at 100 yards.

7x57mm Mauser Churchill Gun Makers Model Deluxe (for crocodile and leopard over bait)

12 gauge 3” Magnum Beretta Model 626E with single selective trigger and fully choked left barrel & half choked right barrel (for leopard over hounds)

I have plans to add a double rifle to these in the near future. Preferably a Heym Model 89B boxlock ejector chambered in .600 Nitro Express. But with the lack of factory loaded .600 Nitro Express ammunition, I suppose that a John Rigby & Co. Shikari boxlock ejector chambered in .500 Nitro Express would be more practical.

Ruger No.1 458 Win Mag. Currently working on a custom stock and have a scope to swap out with the RMR to see what I like better. Will see work in Africa in 2027

Very impressive! I go completely utility. I have a 375H&H I inherited upon my brother's death, a 9.3x62 I built on a Remington 700 action, and a 416 Rem Mag I also built on a Rem 700 action..

I asked him for a status update weeks ago and was told “I’ve got a pile of parts here”….

Told him that I was 3 years into this and beyond ready to be done with it and the he should skip bluing and stock finish and just cerakote the thing and I’d send him a B&C stock.

Gonna give it till June before I have him send everything back.
